Responsibilities

Howmet Fastening Systems is seeking a Production Supervisor for our Fullerton, CA site.

Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for directing activities of all assigned employees to ensure the efficient and productive performance of the department. Ensures and promotes a safe working environment that meets the daily production goals in Quality, Output, and On-time delivery.

Essential Functions:
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in operating variety of machines to manufacture parts or products.
  • Supervise work teams and individuals in the areas of responsibilities of manufacturing to meet customer quality and on-time delivery needs.
  • Supervise work teams and individuals in the areas of responsibilities of manufacturing to comply with company policies.
  • Analyzes work orders to estimate worker hours and create machining schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
  • Schedule and/or approve overtime and vacations.
  • Manages teams by establishing monthly and quarterly performance goals
  • Assist in setting and achieving productivity and quality targets for the various teams.
  • Coach team or manufacturing personnel in their continuous improvement efforts.
  • Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Develops capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times.
  • Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.
  • Review daily production reports and forms.
  • Attend Daily Manufacturing Review Meeting
  • Support Manufacturing Manager in meeting department goals and objectives.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of management and employees.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented; with excellent time management skills.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience or combination bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this option.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Supervisory experience to be in manufacturing.
  • Experience with the manufacturing of precision machined metal components
  • Experience in a machine shop
  • Experience with TPS/ Continuous Improvement / Lean Manufacturing principles and programs
  • Experience in the aerospace industry

  • Reaching above and below, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and bending.
  • The employee must occasionally lift / carry / move up to 25 pounds.
  • Needs a high degree of concentration in a busy office environment.
  • Need to be able to wear safety steel toe shoes and walk around at shop floor environment as needed.
  • Do not wear loose clothing (e.g. skirts , scarfs, etc) in the shop production area. Be able to remove dangling jewelry for shop floor assigned tasks, and wear hearing protection as needed.
