Role Purpose

At Corning, we apply our unparalleled expertise in glass science and manufacturing to make products that create new industries and transform people's lives.The Production Planner II is responsible for planning, scheduling, and optimizing production activities to ensure the reliable delivery of products to our business partners. This is a mid-senior role at the intersection of operations, supply chain, and continuous improvement - with direct responsibility for leading cross-functional projects and driving planning system effectiveness across assigned product lines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the master production schedule based on equipment, labor, and material availability; release production orders to operations, manage inventory plans, and peg finished goods to customer sales orders.
  • Manage Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system inputs and planning strategies for assigned product sets; coordinate demand recognition for new product introductions and plant-to-plant transfers.
  • Analyze plant capacity models and report capacity consumption across product lines to support production forecasting, resource planning, and Available to Promise (ATP) management.
  • Lead new system implementation projects and continuous improvement initiatives within Planning and Procurement; use data analysis to evaluate manufacturing effectiveness and develop improvement recommendations.
  • Coordinate closely with production coordinators, team leaders, and plant procurement to align on short- and long-term production plan execution; report scheduling metrics and plan performance to management.


Education/Experiences - Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field
  • 4-7 years of relevant experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain
  • Experience leading and participating in cross-functional teams
  • Working knowledge of SAP or another MRP/ERP system
  • Understanding of core supply chain principles: planning, forecasting, capacity management, and purchasing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills


Experiences - Desired
  • Experience in cables, fiber, or industrial manufacturing environments
  • Project management experience
  • Continuous improvement or Lean/Six Sigma background
  • Knowledge of inventory management principles
  • Capacity analysis experience
  • APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) or equivalent supply chain credential

  • Translates complex MRP and capacity data into clear, actionable scheduling and planning decisions
  • Leads cross-functional improvement projects from diagnosis through implementation with minimal supervision
  • Collaborates across operations, procurement, and sales teams to align on production priorities and resolve conflicts
  • Manages multiple planning priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Communicates planning performance and production analysis clearly to management and operational stakeholders

The range for this position is $71,930.00 - $98,904.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
