Qualifications

Description

Job Responsibilities & Duties
  • Ensures direct reports and operating staff are working to current standards and seeks improvement opportunities.
  • Ensures products are manufactured according to current standards and required procedures and documentation are followed.
  • Manages plant efficiencies and takes actions to sustain.
  • Ensures the products are ready for shipment in the right packaging format according to customer specifications.
  • Systematically assesses plant processes and searches for improvements in productivity and reduction of costs.
  • Maintain database of relevant production data.

Management of Production
  • Oversee all production and order fulfillment activities and provide leadership and resources for the successful day-to-day operation of the facility.
  • Provide a safe workplace to the employees through superior safety and housekeeping programs, and work closely with the Safety Manager to ensure all staff members are trained on and follow all safety policies.
  • Ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment (right volume per bag and truck; right product for the right customer)
  • Improve process efficiency and reduce manufacturing cost per lb to the lowest possible level while maintaining product quality and availability.
  • Monitor market trends and internal sales reports in order to develop new products or adjust operations to changing requirements.
  • Assist in developing new, innovative products through process modifications and use of different raw materials.
  • Coordinate all preventative maintenance and repair activities.
  • Remove production constraints, troubleshoot all production disturbances, investigate customer complaints, and implement corrective action and/or continuous improvement plans.
  • Handle or arrange for PLC programming, oversee the start-up of new or existing equipment, and debug processes.
  • Effectively supervise and manage all plant staff involved in Production, activities.
  • Responsible for the training of personnel, and analysis of workforce requirements and the efficient use of it.
  • Ensure timely production reporting and continuous process efficiency measurements including yields and throughput.
  • Monitor utility usage and work with utilities as needed to optimize energy consumption and cost.
  • Work with Purchasing Department to develop/improve supplier relationships and evaluate/qualify raw materials.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and reports about all plant and production relevant information and data as needed and in compliance with the Record Retention Policy.

Purchasing
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key cellulose vendors and brokers.
  • Set and communicate all relevant cellulose raw material specifications and parameters as needed for Operation
  • Review and approve all A/P invoices timely.

General
  • Ensure that the Plant's interaction with all other departments satisfies the requirements of the established underlying workflow processes.
  • Cooperate with Systems/IT personnel concerning all IT and communication systems, MRP data entry requirements, and ERP procedure implementation and maintenance.
  • Provide leadership example in support of company business goals, plans, and objectives.
  • Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance and adherence to all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Manage raw material and finished goods inventory. Lead annual inventory efforts on site.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Previous experience and broad understanding of Mi-OSHA, NEC and NFPA rules and regulations
  • Acquainted with employment laws including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC
  • Familiar with ERP/MRP systems, preferably SAP-B1, and supply chain management
  • Experienced with PLC programming software, preferably Omron CX-One
  • Adept in use of MS Office, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written
  • Able to perform business and scientific math calculations
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
