Production Engineer - Shelf

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Production Engineer is responsible for well activities within the framework of Talos Energy LLC's policies and procedures and in compliance of applicable regulations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Production Engineer duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Monitor day-to-day production and well activities across Talos fields, ensuring timely performance tracking and reporting
  • Provide engineering analysis, recommendations, and insights to support operational and strategic decision-making
  • Oversee wellwork projects, including supervision of site personnel and stewardship of all related AFEs (capital and expense)
  • Collaborate with operators and partners to influence decisions, ensure data transparency, and address risks to production forecasts
  • Identify and drive production optimization and debottlenecking opportunities for key assets.
  • Perform well and field performance analysis using tools such as PROSPER (nodal), GAP (network), MBAL (material balance), and decline/pressure analysis methods
  • Manage and advance AFEs through the GOM JIU approval process, including economic evaluations and justification documentation
  • Maintain and utilize OFM databases and other systems to evaluate and report production performance
  • Support HSE initiatives and ensure compliance with company policies, standards, and procedures
  • Build and maintain strong cross-functional and external relationships to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in upstream oil and gas environment
  • Bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering, chemical engineering or related field

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
  • Experience in production monitoring, optimization, forecasting, and operations
  • Knowledge of completion design and operations, including artificial lift, stimulation, gravel pack, fracturing, and smart well systems
  • Experience with deepwater developments; operator experience preferred
  • Well performance evaluation experience, including pressure transient analysis
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize a high-volume workload
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High integrity with sound judgment in handling ethical situations
  • Proactive approach to self-development and continuous improvement
  • Willingness to work a flexible and demanding schedule
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion. A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position.
