Full Job Description
We're looking for a Product Manager to lead the Rules Experience team in San Francisco. In this role, you will help own and evolve Asana's workflow automation stack end-to-end: from the AI that makes workflows intelligent, to the systems that ensure reliability and governance, to the delightful product experiences that help customers design, discover, and scale their processes. You will join our Product Management team, which drives Asana's product strategy and works cross-functionally to deliver impactful solutions that help teams see the larger purpose behind their work. Asana is doubling down on its AI Suite, and this team is at the epicenter of moving our customers from isolated rules toward a broader, intelligent, and cohesive automation platform.

This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. If you're interviewing for this role, your recruiter will share more about the in-office requirements.
What you'll achieve
  • Drive the Vision and Roadmap: Define the product vision and prioritized roadmap for the Rules Experience and AI Studio stack, moving Asana from individual, isolated rules to expansive, end-to-end workflows.
  • Shape User Experiences: Shape the next-generation workflow-building and automation experiences customers use to turn manual work into scalable systems, with a direct influence on usability, discoverability, adoption, and product quality.
  • Innovate with AI: Lead the expansion of AI-assisted and prompt-driven workflow creation, making AI a first-class interface for building, refining, and scaling automated processes.
  • Build the Visual Future: Develop the Workflow Canvas and more visual workflow authoring tools to make automation dramatically easier to adopt for all users.
  • Scale Securely: Strengthen the trust, control, reliability, observability, and global or borderless governance foundations that let enterprise automation scale safely.
  • Deliver Business Impact: Directly impact Asana's core business performance. This team's work powers a crucial part of the AI Suite (Asana's consumption-based AI offering going live in July), serving as one of Asana's most critical ARR growth levers and key long-term product differentiators.
About you
  • 5+ years of product management experience, ideally focusing on product experiences, automation, workflows, low-code or no-code builders, or AI-powered applications.
  • Strong user-centric product sense with a proven track record of designing highly usable, intuitive, and engaging creation interfaces, such as visual canvases, builders, or wizard flows.
  • Strong technical competency in translating complex systems (like workflow architectures, platform rules, and AI capabilities) into seamless, intuitive end-user product surfaces.
  • Demonstrates curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.
  • Demonstrated capability to collaborate closely with engineering, design, and data science to ship high-impact product improvements and define crisp trade-offs.
  • Experience or deep curiosity regarding LLMs, prompt-driven interfaces, and agentic execution patterns to enhance productivity and automation.
  • Comfortable utilizing data, success metrics, and experimentation to guide user adoption and value realization.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional partners and leadership.

At Asana, we're committed to building teams that include a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills, as this is critical to helping us achieve our mission. If you're interested in this role and don't meet every listed requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
