Position Summary

The Product Manager is responsible for developing and managing SRV Refrigeration's product strategy, equipment portfolio, and vendor partnerships. This role ensures the company offers the most reliable, cost-effective, and innovative refrigeration and HVAC solutions while supporting operational excellence and long-term profitability. The Product Manager serves as the technical and business expert for the products and equipment SRV installs and services. This position works closely with Sales, Estimating, Operations, Purchasing, Service, and Installation teams to standardize equipment, improve efficiencies, and introduce new technologies that enhance customer value.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain SRV Refrigeration's approved equipment and product offerings.
  • Evaluate emerging refrigeration and HVAC technologies, controls, refrigerants, and energy-efficient solutions.
  • Standardize equipment selections to improve installation consistency, service ability, and inventory management.
  • Recommend additions, updates, or discontinuation of products based on performance, reliability, and market demand.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and supplier representatives.
  • Negotiate pricing, rebates, warranty support, and preferred purchasing agreements.
  • Coordinate factory training opportunities for employees.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for product-related manufacturer support.
  • Provide technical guidance to Sales, Estimating, Project Managers, and Service teams.
  • Assist with equipment selection for complex commercial refrigeration and HVAC projects.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts for product-related issues.
  • Develop product specifications and installation standards.
  • Research industry trends
  • Recommend innovative solutions that improve customer value and company competitiveness.
  • Develop product knowledge training for technicians, installers, estimators, and sales personnel.
  • Maintain equipment specifications, installation guides, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure teams remain current on manufacturer updates and best practices.
  • Analyze warranty claims and equipment failure trends.
  • Identify recurring product issues and collaborate with manufacturers to resolve them.
  • Recommend improvements based on field performance data.
  • Monitor customer feedback and implement corrective actions.
  • Analyze product profitability and total cost of ownership.
  • Support estimating by providing accurate product costs and specifications.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings through standardization and strategic purchasing.
  • Monitor vendor pricing and recommend purchasing strategies.
  • Support Service with product updates and replacement recommendations.
  • Work with Sales to develop customer-focused solutions.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing to maintain optimal inventory levels.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, HVAC/Refrigeration Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent industry experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical contracting, manufacturing, or distribution.
  • Experience with commercial refrigeration systems, HVAC equipment, and controls.
  • Product management or project management experience preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge of equipment manufacturers, controls, and industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities.
  • Negotiation and vendor management experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/business management software.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or estimating software is a plus.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to visit construction sites, warehouses, and customer facilities.
  • Ability to lift to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to travel locally and occasionally out of state for manufacturer training and industry events.
