The Opportunity

AssetMark is seeking a Product Manager to join our growing Product & Engineering Platform team. The role involves owning the data pipelines for Money Movement and Custodial Integration. This opportunity represents a significant step up in ownership and strategic impact, where you'll design feature improvements and new features while driving execution with engineering teams. You'll own multiple features or complex feature groups, working at the intersection of wealth management and software design to build products that make a meaningful impact for financial advisors and their clients.

We can only consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our Charlotte, NC office.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Roadmap:

  • Develop and maintain a clear, strategically aligned agenda for the features you own
  • Create and manage a shovel-ready backlog for engineering teams at least 2 sprints out
  • Maintain a high-quality roadmap at least a quarter out
  • Write actionable user stories that drive meaningful product improvements

Product Design, Development, & Execution:

  • Write RFCs for feature enhancements and new features
  • Independently sketch first drafts of user experience designs
  • Specify platform components required to power new features, identifying where existing vs new platform capabilities are needed
  • Decompose RFCs into actionable user stories, including work that may span multiple teams
  • Track team capacity and proactively manage priorities 1-2 sprints in advance
  • Run at least two feature-sized projects in parallel
  • Provide engineers with business context and serve as first line of defense against distractions
  • Use data and analytics tools to inform product decisions
  • Design and execute comprehensive test plans for feature enhancements

Stakeholder & Ecosystem Engagement:

  • Build credibility with internal stakeholders by helping them solve for their full outcomes
  • Demo all features in your area internally and, with advance notice, externally
  • Develop working knowledge of players and developments in the wealth management space relevant to your product area
  • Manage stakeholder expectations through regular updates and timeline alignment
  • May own one or more internal stakeholder relationships

Leadership & Communication:

  • Lead feature planning and prioritization meetings
  • Articulate product requirements and decisions clearly to cross-functional teams
  • Resolve minor team conflicts and maintain positive momentum
  • Demonstrate cross-functional leadership, often persuading without formal authority
  • Mentor junior PMs, provide feedback, and build team morale

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Experience working with custodians, financial institutions, or other external providers and integrating their APIs into platform products.
  • Understanding of money movement applications and the backend integrations that support transaction execution, processing, status tracking, and reconciliation across internal and external systems.
  • Strong analytical thinking and ability to translate business requirements into actionable development work
  • Solid understanding of software development principles, APIs, and system integrations
  • Proven ability to work effectively with engineering, design, and QA teams
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and sprint planning
  • Strong communication skills with ability to adapt messaging for different audiences
  • Data-driven approach to decision-making using analytics and customer feedback
  • Understanding of wealth management, asset management, or fintech domains
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or related field
  • 3-6 years of product management experience, preferably in fintech or financial services
  • Experience writing technical requirements and working closely with engineering teams
  • Track record of successfully shipping software products or features
  • Experience with user research and data analysis to inform product decisions

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $100,000-$125,000.

This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US to be considered. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
