Position Summary

The Product Engineering Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving the performance, quality, integration, and lifecycle management of Quadient's Mail hardware and software solutions across North America. This role leads a cross-functional team of product engineers, integration experts, technical trainers, and professional services personnel to ensure our products are reliable, serviceable, scalable, and profitable. The position serves as a critical bridge between R&D, Service, Sales, Marketing, and external partners, ensuring that product design, deployment, and support are aligned with customer needs and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Execution
  • Define and execute the Product Engineering strategy aligned with Service and corporate objectives
  • Drive continuous improvement in product reliability, quality, and customer experience
  • Translate strategy into measurable outcomes (uptime, cost to serve, CSAT, service profitability)
  • Manage OpEx/CapEx budgets and resource planning


Product Improvement and Serviceability
  • Lead initiatives to improve product design, serviceability, and cost efficiency
  • Ensure service profitability targets are embedded in product design and field performance
  • Partner with R&D and suppliers to enhance product specifications and performance
  • Guide engineering efforts on modifications, enhancements, and field fixes
  • Ensure all solutions are optimized for Remote First service strategy

Product Lifecycle Management
  • Own end-to-end product lifecycle from concept 12 launch 12 field performance 12 end-of-life
  • Establish and manage product validation, testing, and compliance processes
  • Lead product qualification for North American market readiness
  • Oversee data collection, analytics, and reliability reporting (2cradle to grave2)
  • Drive root cause analysis and resolution of complex hardware and software issues
  • Implement early-warning systems to proactively identify product performance trends
  • Partner with R&D, Sales, Marketing, Service, and external stakeholders to align solutions with market needs.
  • Act as technical advisor to senior leadership.
  • Form strategic relationships with compliance and regulatory agencies, external vendors, dealers, and customers.


Software Solutions & Integration
  • Lead design, development, and deployment of custom integrations between Quadient systems and customer platforms.
  • Drive adoption of APIs, cloud architectures, and modern development practices
  • Support Professional Services and integration revenue streams
  • Review Statements of Work (SOWs) and ensure profitability


Team Development
  • Facilitate personal development of team members with effective goal setting, upskilling, coaching, and mentoring
  • Identify skills, resources, and tools needed to adequately achieve departmental goals
