Product Engineer
The Product Engineer will be responsible for supporting the planning, designing, developing, costing and production readiness for product enhancements. Serve as a key member of the design team taking products from concept into production. Responsible for all design related activities on specific projects including print dimensions/specification, product testing/validation, and definition of new testing equipment needs.- Support product design output requirements such as design/detail drawings, bill of materials, instruction manuals, technical data for specification sheets, certification design requirements, product testing process and test data analysis.
- Develop optimized product concepts / product enhancements by maintaining functionality, performance, product cost, and produce-ability.
- Recommend changes and enhancements to procedures, protocols and processes.
- Provide project support on a wide variety of complex projects. Plan, conduct, support, and serve as the product engineer on assignments utilizing Zurn Elkay’s Product Development process and tools.
- Serve as technical resource for new product development and manage engineering documentation product cost, instruction manuals, technical data for specification sheets, certification design requirements, product testing process and test data analysis.
- Provide successful launch support of new products into the manufacturing facility in Freeport, IL.
- Provide engineering product support on a wide variety of water delivery products delivering consistent improvement in product quality and cost year over year.
- Develop product enhancements to existing products to meeting customer/marketing requirements, utilizing Elkay’s Product Development process and tools.
- Manage several concurrent product engineering projects from concept through production release.
- Deliver engineering documentation such as 3D designs in Solidworks, Bill of Materials, instruction manuals, and technical data for specification sheets, certification design requirements, product testing process and test data analysis.
- Responsible for all design related activities on specific projects including print dimensions/specification, product testing/validation, and definition of new testing equipment needs.
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or other related discipline required
- 5-7 years of experience in product engineering within a manufacturing environment desired
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration (verbal, written, and presentation) skills a must
- Successful track record in project leadership essential
- Must be proficient in Microsoft office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
- Leadership skills and abilities essential
- Basic refrigeration or data acquisition or equipment controls knowledge a plus
- Proficient skills in Solid Works, AutoCAD or other 3D modeling software required
- Experience with or understanding of Product Data Management Systems a must
Salary Range: The compensation range(s) identified below are a good faith estimate of the salary expected to be paid as performed from these locations. Actual salaries may vary based on a variety of factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, education and training, and other relevant business and organizational factors. Most candidates will start in the lower half of the range. The salary range for this position is $74,371 - 102,260.
