Job Description

As a member of the JIT/Seat Complete engineering team, the Product Engineer II will be responsible for managing integration of seat components into a seat and vehicle system during all phases of development. Utilizes knowledge of engineering theory, material science, manufacturing processes, to design products to meet manufacturing plant capabilities and customer specifications.

Responsibilities

Your work will include, but not be limited to:
  • Lead customer technical interface.
  • Responsible for working with other cross functional teams to coordinate CAD, CAE, tooling, and design for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Addresses problems using engineered solutions (FEA, DFM, DFMEA, design analysis, calculations,
    design review, etc.).
  • Ability to guide a team of supporting product engineers.
  • Ability to identify processes needing improvement, and to drive improvements.

Your Qualifications

  • BSME/BSEE degree or equivalent. Advanced engineering, technical, or business degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience working with automotive OEM's, preferably in automotive seating.
  • Demonstrated success with developing and launching seating programs from concept to launch.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills. Application of DFSS and Shanin techniques to root cause issues.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, with awareness of deadlines.
  • Ability to perform and/or manage complex design analysis tasks.
  • Development of seat complete DVP&R.
  • Lead interface with Stellantis customer engineering team, Lear plants, and Lear internal engineering teams, reporting to the Manger of Engineering-JIT.
  • Design and integration and release of foam, trim, plastics, structures, and other non-JIT components into the final seat complete assembly.
  • Ensures global best practices are being followed.
  • Proficient in GD&T, DFSS, DFMEA, and DFA/DFM.
  • Proficient in FMVSS and ECE specifications.
  • Local, regional, and international travel required depending on program mix and time of development cycle.


Bonus if You Have

  • Experience working for or with Ford or other NA OEMs.
