Full Job Description

Why This Role Matters

As Product Engineer, you will be the primary technical liaison between ZOLEO Hardware and Production, supporting production quality and execution for shipping products while helping move new products successfully through NPI.

Your role will directly influence the reliability and readiness for ZOLEO products by helping ensure production issues, engineering changes, compliance requirements, and NPI risks are identified and addressed before they affect delivery.

What You'll Do
  • Own Production Build-Record Readiness. Review build records and prepare sign-off documentation for all Production shipments, helping maintain complete and accurate records for shipping products.
  • Administer Engineering Changes. Manage engineering change orders (ECOs) from initiation through Production implementation and closure.
  • Investigate Production and Test Failures. Lead first-pass root-cause investigations of production line and test failures, escalating confirmed hardware or firmware defects with a clear problem statement.
  • Track Production Performance. Monitor and report monthly production throughput and yield, including FE/BE performance against baseline, and prepare supporting data for the Production QBR.
  • Coordinate Compliance Documentation. Manage compliance and certification documentation requests across active markets, including the EU, Japan, Canada, and the US, coordinating with suppliers and the design house to keep open items moving.
  • Support NPI and DFM Execution. Track part-by-part DFM status against tooling, follow up on stale items, maintain the tooling-gate calendar, and flag emerging NPI risks before they become schedule - or compliance-critical.
  • Support Validation Traceability. Partner with the E2E Integration Lead on test-to-requirement traceability and device lab validation evidence as needed.
  • Apply AI to Engineering Workflows. Use AI-assisted tools where relevant to support analysis, documentation, issue investigation, and recurring engineering workflows while maintaining appropriate engineering review and judgment.

What You Bring
  • Relevant Background. 3-5 years of experience in a product, manufacturing, test, or NPI engineering role within consumer or satellite-based electronics or a related hardware industry, with a BEng/BASc in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Contract Manufacturing Knowledge. Working knowledge of contract-manufacturing production processes, including build records, ECOs, yield/FPY reporting, and first-pass-yield analysis.
  • Independent Execution. Comfortable leading a scoped workstream independently and proactive about identifying and flagging blockers without being asked.
  • Clear Written Communication. Able to communicate clearly through email and shared documentation while working with external manufacturing partners.
  • Compliance & Certification Exposure. Exposure to product compliance and certification processes such as CE, FCC, ISED, or similar is a strong asset.
  • Configuration Management Experience. Experience with document control and revision/change tracking is an asset.
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset. Proactively looks for ways to improve existing processes - not just following them.

What We Offer
  • Salary Range. $95,000 - $115,000 CAD base salary.
  • Flexible Work. A hybrid model; balancing collaboration and lifestyle flexibility.
  • Comprehensive Benefits. Health, dental, and flexible spending accounts tailored to your needs.
  • Time to Recharge. Vacation and sick days to help you rest, recharge, and stay well.
  • Growth Investment. A continuous learning environment backed by a professional development budget.
  • Inclusive by Nature. A values-driven workplace where diverse perspectives are celebrated.
