Full Job Description
Mettler Toledo is looking for a Product Engineer to join its team in Columbus, Ohio. This role focuses on developing product and process solutions for vehicle scale applications within the Masstron Producing Organization, Vehicle SBU. You will have strong interpersonal, communication, and technical skills, with expertise in designing and modifying products and systems for heavy industrial weighing applications, including steel and concrete structure analysis and foundation design.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop cost-effective product solutions for vehicle scale applications that meet customer requirements.
  • Lead and participate in New Product Development projects, collaborating across departments.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external fabricators to ensure quality standards.
  • Conceive, define, design, and develop products and processes according to project schedules.
  • Create mechanical and electrical manufacturing drawings, bills of materials, user documentation, and manufacturing support materials.
  • Manage product performance and regulatory compliance testing.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, customer needs, and cost/performance goals.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert in weigh bridge structure and foundation calculations and analysis.
  • Provide project management support and technical assistance to marketing and field service teams.
  • Document and protect patentable knowledge while avoiding patent infringements.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with internal teams, vendors, customers, and regulatory agencies.


What You Need to Succeed

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Agricultural or Structural Engineering OR a BS in a related field
  • Experience in marketing or developing products and applications closely with customers and end users.
  • Product design experience (3-10 years); preferably within a technical or industrial field.
  • Ability to present products and solutions to customers internally and externally in a manner representative of MT vision and values.
  • Proven aptitude/experience with with CAD/CAE/FEA software (e.g. Creo, Marc, ANSYS, CivilFEM, DIANA), structural design and analysis, weldment design, heavy steel fabrication, and basic electrical wiring.
  • Strong background using MS Office suite. Certified Microsoft Office Specialist preferred.
  • Sound analytical abilities and business sense.
