Job Description

The Product Developer is a strategic professional responsible for shaping the future of Citi Marks, an independent price verification and mark-to-market service for institutional clients. This role requires a recognized subject matter expert in Spread Products and financial technology who closely follows the latest industry trends and adapts them for application within the Citi Marks platform. The ideal candidate will be an acknowledged authority on product development, demonstrating strong commercial awareness and the ability to translate complex business objectives into a clear, actionable technology roadmap.

This position involves providing advanced judgment and in-depth analysis to solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions for the Citi Marks service, which provides valuations for complex fixed-income instruments. The role requires thinking beyond existing solutions to enhance our offering and provide delivery capabilities via a modern technology stack (API, Snowflake, AWS). The Product Developer will have a significant impact on the function and the business, making key decisions that determine the technical approaches and strategies for expanding the Citi Marks platform across new asset classes and enhancing its regulatory compliance capabilities, particularly concerning SEC Rule 2a-5 and ASC Topic 820.

Responsibilities

The Product Developer will be a key leader in the Citi Marks initiative, with responsibilities including:
  • End-to-End Product Lifecycle Management: Manage all activities related to the development of new products, features, and functionality for the Citi Marks platform. This includes developing business cases, defining requirements (BRDs), and driving innovation based on market research, client needs, and strategic business priorities.
  • Strategic Vision and Roadmap: Create and maintain a product vision aligned with the Citi Marks 2027 Strategic Initiatives. Develop and manage the corresponding roadmap for delivery, covering the expansion across Spread Products.
  • Technology and Platform Development: Partner with the technology team to guide the development of the Citi Marks infrastructure. This includes enhancements to the core offering and building out delivery mechanisms such as the RESTful API, Snowflake data sharing, and AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Requirements Definition: Create clear, specific project plans, business requirements, and technical requirements documents for product execution.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work in close coordination with Technology, Business Managers, Sales, Valuation teams, and senior stakeholders to fulfil delivery objectives. Partner with senior business leaders and a widely distributed global user community to define and implement solutions. Engage directly with Clients to ensure that the platform evolves to their growing needs.
  • Market and Industry Analysis: Follow market, industry, and client trends in independent price verification and mark-to-market services. Adapt these trends for application within Citi's products and solutions platforms to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Governance and Risk Management: Focus on controls and governance, including performing Need-to-Know based security reviews, and ensuring the platform's features facilitate client compliance with regulations like SEC Rule 2a-5. Appropriately assess risk when making business decisions, safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets.

Qualifications
  • Experience:
    • 15+ years of experience in product management, financial services, or fintech, including 8-10+ years of managerial experience.
    • Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex products in a large, global organization.
    • Subject Matter Expertise: Deep understanding of fixed income, particularly Spread Products (CLO, ABS, CMO, CMBS, RMBS, etc.). Familiarity with valuation methodologies, market data, and the competitive landscape is essential.

  • Skills:
    • Product Management: Process Management knowledge with a propensity for detail and comprehensiveness of content. Experience leading large cross-functional initiatives and managing end-to-end product lifecycles.
    • Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of modern technology platforms and data architecture. Experience with API development, cloud platforms (AWS), data warehousing (Snowflake), and machine learning applications in a financial context is highly desirable.
    • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with financial regulations related to fair value reporting, such as SEC Rule 2a-5, and the concept of Independent Price Verification (IPV).
    • Analytical and Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to conduct in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis.
