Your New Role...

As a Product Designer II, you are an experienced designer who enjoys collaborating with product, engineering, research, editorial, data, marketing, content strategy and other designers to build efficient user workflows and intuitive storytelling tools. As a member of the CNN Product Design Team, you are responsible for creating industry-leading user experiences engaged by millions of audiences across the globe. You would be working on Newsroom Platforms which power CNN's editorial, innovation, and performance capabilities, accelerating our ability to create world-class digital and broadcast products to empower journalists, editors, directors, producers and other news content creators.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Be an integral part of the product design team that is creating the next generation of CNN editorial experiences for digital and broadcast news production, from small iterative improvements to long term strategic vision.
  • Transform ideas into information architecture diagrams, experience journeys, user flows, wireframes, design mockups and interactive, AI-powered prototypes to effectively conceptualize and communicate forward-thinking product features and desired outcomes.
  • Conduct regular user research sessions with internal and external users.
  • Perform usability tests and interpret data, drawing actionable insights to make informed design recommendations.
  • Create, contribute, and maintain tokens and components for our design system.
  • Champion our design principles, design systems and product roadmap, and serve our editorial teams' needs.
  • Play a key role in shaping the future of CNN's newsroom production and publishing platforms by collaborating with stakeholders and team members to brainstorm, envision, and validate new features and functionalities.


Qualifications & Experience...

  • 2+ years of professional experience, specifically as a Product Designer.
  • Design portfolio demonstrating strong UX and visual design solutions, with an emphasis on identifying and meaningfully solving true user problems.
  • A mastery of Figma, including using variables, components, styles, and shared libraries.
  • AI prototyping experience using tools such as Figma Make, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar.Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in utilizing, creating and modifying design system components to create scalable, delightful user experiences.
  • Experience working within large-scale or enterprise organizations, requiring patience and proactive communication along each step of the design process. Bonus points for experience in news/media.
  • A demonstrated ability to manage complex design challenges and a strong record of fostering cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder alignment.
  • Strong understanding of best practices for user experience design, including usability principles, design audit heuristics, user research methodology, testing techniques (A/B, Multi-Variant), design theory, and interaction design.

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $88,900.00 - $165,100.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
