Product Data Governance & Technical Documentation

Base Salary Rate: $98,532.00 - $115,920.00

About This Role
Residential Fire & Safety is seeking a highly detail-oriented and execution-focused leader to own product data governance and technical documentation across the NPI and commercialization lifecycle.
This role ensures that all product data, technical content, and customer-facing documentation are accurate, complete, aligned, and ready for launch across internal systems and external channels. Acting as a critical enabler of commercialization readiness, this position works closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Commercial teams to ensure product information is consistent, compliant, and ready to support sales, eCommerce, and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Documentation & Content Accuracy
• Own development and delivery of technical product documentation including manuals, instruction sheets, data sheets, and specification documents.
• Ensure all documentation is accurate, consistent, and aligned with product specifications, regulatory requirements, and customer needs.
• Establish and enforce documentation standards, templates, and processes.
• Partner with Product and Engineering teams to validate all technical content and installation instructions.
• Manage updates, revisions, and version control for all documentation.
Product Data Governance & System Readiness
• Own product data governance across PIM, ERP (JDE), and related systems.
• Ensure product attributes, specifications, descriptions, and metadata are complete and accurate across all systems.
• Manage data entry, validation, and enrichment workflows to ensure readiness for eCommerce syndication and customer use.
• Maintain product taxonomy, naming conventions, and attribute standards.
• Ensure product data is consistently aligned across all internal and external platforms.
Data Quality, Accuracy & Compliance
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of product data and technical content across all materials and systems.
• Establish data quality standards, validation rules, and audit processes.
• Validate alignment across manuals, product listings, and system data.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and safety requirements.
• Resolve data discrepancies and drive continuous improvement in data accuracy.
Launch Readiness & Commercialization Support
• Ensure all product data and documentation are complete and launch-ready prior to commercialization.
• Partner with Commercialization Governance and cross-functional teams to support NPI readiness.
• Support launches by ensuring data is clean, consistent, and ready for all customer-facing channels.
• Reduce rework and delays by improving upstream data and documentation readiness.
Process, Standards & Continuous Improvement
• Develop and maintain data governance frameworks and best practices.
• Identify and implement improvements to data workflows and documentation processes.
• Drive standardization across teams to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Provide training and guidance on data standards and documentation practices.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree
• 5+ years of experience in product data management, technical writing, data governance, or related roles
• 3+ years of experience managing product data within PIM, ERP or similar systems
Preferred Qualifications
• Strong experience with technical documentation
• Strong attention to detail and focus on accuracy
• Ability to manage complex data sets across systems
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Experience in consumer products, manufacturing, or retail
• Experience supporting eCommerce product content and syndication
• Familiarity with product taxonomy and metadata structures
• Experience improving data governance processes
• Background in regulated or compliance-heavy environments
Compensation and Benefits
Individuals may be eligible for an annual performance bonus based on both individual and company's performance. The final compensation for this position will be set based on the individual's knowledge, skills, and experience as it relates to the job requirements.
