Job Description:

Caterpillar's Construction Industries is hiring a Product Consultant! In this role, you will combine your technical product knowledge and project management skills to serve as the person responsible for the development and execution of specialized initiatives to drive profitable parts and service revenue growth through improvement of existing prioritized service events (PSEs). Assignments/projects are complex and strategic in nature, with global responsibility.

What You'll Do
  • Analyze and interpret data and initiate appropriate action that will drive additional parts and service sales.
  • Partner with the Global Aftermarket Sales teams to conduct product performance studies to understand the performance of existing prioritized service events and lead improvement projects that will develop growth opportunities.
  • Develop the strategy and implementation of channel optimization & activation, digital marketing, campaign management, creative development, and public relations.
  • Create improvement plans with partners and track progress on execution
  • Verbal and written communication within broader Parts & Service organization.
  • Segmenting, targeting, and positioning sales opportunities to gain market share.
  • Establishing metrics to monitor and review the effectiveness of existing marketing strategies; suggesting necessary interventions for improvement.
  • Collection of Voice of Dealer (VOD) and development of Critical Customer Requirements (CCR).
  • Definition and differentiation of enhancement to existing PSEs including functional, technical specifications and product data requirements.
  • Understand and be able to explain projected value of each lead for prioritization and business growth estimates.
  • Work with digital partners to ensure understanding of the proposed solution and communicate status of digital developments with stakeholders.


Individuals in this position must understand and keep current on:
  • Customer market to understand how and why parts are purchased, maintenance practices, and when/why repair and rebuild decisions are made.
  • Dealer sales and service operations efficiency improvement opportunities with Condition Monitoring insights.

  • Decision Making & Critical Thinking: Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and recommend next steps
  • Customer Focus: Basic project management skills used for initiating, developing, and delivering programs to market
  • Products & Services: Knowledge of dealer operations / capabilities, and the aftermarket business
  • Technical Excellence: Proficient utilizing Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Power Point)
  • Effective Communications: Strong communication, presentation, and training skills

  • Prior experience in sales and/or marketing roles with construction equipment
  • Prior engineering experience or technical work on heavy equipment
  • Ability to drive efficiency into work processes and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders with varying needs
  • Relationship management skills to build strong relationships with various stakeholders
  • Value selling skills in influencing to persuade others regarding new customer focus strategies, innovative business models and expanded distribution methods
  • Problem solving skills
  • Desire to continuously learn


Additional Details
  • Work location: Peoria, IL or Cary, NC
  • Relocation assistance is available for this role
  • Caterpillar requires 5 days per week in office
  • Travel in this role is up to 20%


Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
