Full Job Description
The Journal is a daily narrative news podcast produced in partnership with the Wall Street Journal. Each day, we tell one important news story in 15-20 minutes. We focus on money and business - applying those lenses to general news or zooming in on business stories other outlets don't tell. We've published explosive investigations into stand-your-ground laws and the fertility industry, covered news on the fast-moving world of OpenAI and the race to control artificial intelligence, and everything from Elon Musk's business empire to the viral rise of Labubus. We work alongside some of the best business journalists in the world, and our show is heard by millions of listeners.

  • Write scripts and shape narratives for episodes, with attention to pacing, tone, and story arc
  • Travel for and produce field reporting when stories require it
  • Log, cut, and arrange tape, build assemblies, score moments, and handle everything else production requires
  • Balance multiple episodes in production simultaneously

About Spotify

Spotify is a Swedish audio streaming and media services provider, launched in October 2008. The platform is owned by Spotify AB, a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange since April 2018. Spotify's primary business is providing an audio streaming platform, with the company claiming that it had 345 million active monthly users and 155 million paying subscribers as of December 2020. Unlike physical or download sales, which pay artists a fixed price per song or album sold, Spotify pays royalties based on the number of artist streams as a proportion of total songs streamed on the service. Spotify distributes approximately 70% of its total revenue to rights holders, who then pay artists based on their individual agreements. Spotify has faced criticism from artists and producers including Taylor Swift and Thom Yorke, who have argued that it does not fairly compensate musicians.
