Full Job Description

CNN is seeking a creative and driven Features Video Producer to join our team. This role is ideal for a storyteller with exceptional editorial judgement, refined visual taste and deep experience producing compelling features content. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced news environment, takes initiative and approaches challenges with solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop original story ideas and translate them into engaging visual narratives
  • Develop and produce new and ongoing digital series
  • Create work that lives natively on social media (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube)
  • Conduct thorough pre-production planning, including reporting, scripting, booking and logistics
  • Produce shoots in the field or studio, directing crew and talent to capture high-quality footage. The ability to shoot is highly preferred.
  • Edit or supervise the editing of video content, ensuring strong storytelling, pacing  and visual cohesion
  • Collaborate with reporters and editors to refine stories
  • Troubleshoot production challenges and offer solutions that adhere to deadlines

Requirements

  • 5+ years video journalism experience at a major news organization or production company
  • Experience creating video pieces covering music, culture, lifestyle, style, travel, science and/or entertainment is strongly preferred
  • Proficient in story development, pre-production (scripting, storyboarding, crafting interviews, etc.) and coordinating.
  • Strong understanding of what makes a good digital video
  • Experience working on digital-first, social or multi-platform video content
  • Demonstrated sense of visual style
  • Excellent news judgement
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to collaborate with global teams
  • Proficiency in editing software (Adobe Premiere, etc.)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time
  • Experience creating motion graphics is not required, but a plus
