Overview

The Procurement Planner is responsible for serving as the primary procurement liaison for central procurement and project teams, coordinating all procurement activities from Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) through project completion. The Planner oversees procurement planning, including lead-time scheduling and procurement milestone management, proactively identifying risk to ensure mitigation and escalations are remedied. This position will play a key role in connecting the elements of the project supply plan to real-time construction activities and executed procurement orders, ensuring the business can make fast, fact-based decisions as schedules, designs and conditions change. Provides material visibility, driving successful project outcomes with clear communication and alignment to one plan.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Collaborate directly with Project Managers, Pre-construction, Scheduling, and Procurement teams to align project construction needs with material purchasing and delivery schedules
  • Act as the primary procurement contact for project teams and escalation point operational and procurement leadership
  • Lead the management of the project material needs and schedule from time of project award through completion of the project, including identification of when LNTP will be needed to support project schedules
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor the Procurement Log for assigned projects that align with the P6 schedule
  • Ensure data is updated and trusted as project builds out and schedules flex
  • Work closely with the project team and procurement leadership to determine how best to resolve supply constraints to balance service, inventory, and cost in the best interest of the supply chain as a whole
  • Lead planning sessions and weekly calls with the project teams to align procurement lead times with project requirements
  • Collaborate with the P6 scheduling team to integrate future material purchase orders into the master schedule, ensuring alignment with procurement lead times and required order dates
  • Proactively analyze the impact of engineered drawing date movements on procurement schedules to identify risks and mitigation opportunities
  • Serve as the internal customer liaison, ensuring alignment across operations, procurement, and project teams
  • Identify constraints early and ensure mitigation actions are defined and executed
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for procurement delays or misalignment with project needs
  • Identify and lead resolution of procurement-related risks, implementing mitigation strategies as needed
  • Demonstrate extreme ownership and proactive communication to ensure completeness of plan, accuracy of data and timely resolution of procurement issues
  • Collaborate with the Category group team on current lead times and project specific needs to ensure schedules align
  • Stay up-to-date on engineering changes and how they impact the project while partnering with operations and the procurement team to minimize disruption due to changes
  • Provide project specific feedback related to vendors that includes input from project teams as a participant in vendor QBRs
  • Ability to travel to site/suppliers as needed
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Construction Management, Engineering, Business or relevant field or a combination of work experience and education
  • Four years' experience in procurement, supply chain, construction management, field engineering, or related field with a minimum of two years of experience in project management, construction management, or in a related field
  • Understanding of project-based planning, billing of materials (BOMs), construction schedules, procurement lifecycles, and lead time constraints

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a remote setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with team members and stakeholders both in person and remotely
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
  • Proficient user of Power BI, procurement software and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, including understanding, developing and distributing reports and performing material reconciliation
  • Knowledge of procurement life cycle processes and the effects on construction projects
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and technical documents
  • Familiar with developing reports and documents for distribution to leadership
