Overview

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Manager who will lead and manage procurement activities for large-scale and complex construction projects. In this role, you will be a critical link in our supply chain, driving sourcing strategies for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted services that support successful project delivery. You will work closely with Operations, Estimating, Project Management, and field leadership to secure high-quality resources, manage supplier relationships, and deliver value while maintaining a relentless focus on our "Safety FIRST" culture, compliance, schedule, and cost-effectiveness. This role also supports project delivery strategies that incorporate prefabrication, preassembly, modularization, and offsite fabrication (PPMOF) to improve schedule certainty, quality, safety, and overall project execution.

Location

You can be located anywhere in the U.S. if you are highly willing to travel to our client projects on a long-term basis.

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities
  • Procurement Strategy: Develop and execute project procurement strategies that align with schedule, budget, quality, and client requirements across multiple construction scopes, including opportunities to support prefabricated, modular, and offsite delivery approaches where they add value.
  • Sourcing & Negotiation: Lead the RFP/RFQ process, conduct commercial evaluations and bid leveling, and negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and commercial conditions to maximize value, including early engagement with fabricators and specialty suppliers that support PPMOF strategies.
  • Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, prequalify, and manage suppliers, fabricators, and subcontractors while supporting supplier diversity initiatives, offsite production capabilities, and long-term sourcing relationships.
  • Contract & Purchase Order Management: Prepare, review, and issue purchase orders, bid packages, and procurement agreements in alignment with Walbridge policies, legal requirements, and project needs, including coordination of fabrication schedules, packaging requirements, transportation, and site delivery expectations when applicable.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Estimating, Project Controls, Project Management, Superintendents, engineering partners, and field teams to support procurement planning, long-lead item tracking, early design and scope alignment, and schedule-driven purchasing decisions, including coordination required for prefabricated and modular work packages.
  • Compliance & Systems: Maintain accurate procurement records in enterprise systems, ensure supplier compliance with safety, insurance, and contractual requirements, and support reporting and audit readiness.
  • Risk & Market Analysis: Monitor market conditions, pricing trends, supply chain constraints, logistics considerations, and fabrication capacity to proactively address potential disruptions, improve procurement outcomes, and support profitable project execution.

Qualifications

To qualify for the role, you must have
  • A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline, and approximately 5+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, purchasing, estimating, or construction operations.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, subcontractor procurement, contract terms, and commercial negotiations.
  • Experience supporting large-scale industrial, manufacturing, automotive, mission critical, or other complex construction projects.
  • Experience supporting prefabrication, preassembly, modularization, offsite fabrication, or other alternative delivery strategies is beneficial.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, scopes of work, drawings, and project schedules to support informed procurement decisions.

Ideally, you'll also have
  • Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills across corporate and project teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate bids, manage competing priorities, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Experience with ERP, procurement, or construction management systems such as CMiC, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead procurement efforts across multiple projects while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Experience supporting early planning, coordination, and supplier engagement for prefabricated, modular, or offsite fabrication scopes.
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, CPM, or other supply chain or procurement credentials are a plus.
