Responsibilities

  • Manage the tendering process and evaluate procurement packages using online e-tendering platforms.
  • Develop and administer contracts to protect Sedgman's interests.
  • Administer costs to budgets while ensuring quality and timelines are met, using Sedgman’s ERP (JDE).
  • Ensure effective document management and communication via centralized systems.
  • Contribute to the development of procurement registers and plans for projects.
  • Identify, negotiate, and establish contracts with suppliers while ensuring strong relationships.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and contribute to monthly reports.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and mitigate legal and ethical risks.

Job Description

Sedgman is seeking a Procurement Advisor to join our growing business, and our procurement team in Vancouver, B.C. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in managing the acquisition of materials, equipment and services while providing support throughout the procurement process, including developing and executing comprehensive procurement and contracting strategies tailored to project needs. The incumbent will ensure compliance, optimize costs, mitigate risk and align all purchasing activities with the project's requirements and overall business objectives.

What does this role involve? Key responsibilities:

  • Sourcing/Tendering: Manage the tendering process, including the preparation and evaluation of tenders or bids for a number of procurement packages and be proficient with the use of online e-tendering platforms.


  • Contract Management: Develop and administer contracts of allocated packages, ensuring that terms and conditions are met and that Sedgman's interests are protected.


  • Cost Management: Administer costs to allocated budgets. Strive to achieve cost-effectiveness while maintaining high-quality standards and meeting delivery timelines. This includes the use of Sedgman's ERP for managing purchasing commitments (JDE).


  • Documentation transmission: Be proficient with centralised document management systems for collaboration and ensure communication with project team and suppliers are conducted through this system


  • Strategic Procurement Planning: Understand and contribute to the development of procurement registers and plans produced for each project and work to these.


  • Supplier Management: Identify potential suppliers, conduct negotiations, and establish contracts for the procurement of goods and services. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable and cost-effective sources of supply.


  • Reporting: Maintain accurate and organized procurement records. Contribute to monthly reports on procurement activities.


  • Adherence to Policy and Process: Ensure adherence to procurement policies, procedures, and relevant regulations. Work to mitigate risks related to legal and ethical compliance within Sedgman's procurement processes.


What are we looking for? Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline preferred, or Tertiary qualification and experience in a related discipline


  • Must have 5 - 8 years of relevant experience in project delivery within in the Mining, Construction, and/or Oil & Gas industry


  • Demonstrated understanding and ability in managing the complete procurement process, end to end, is required,.


  • An accounting background and knowledge of cost controls, cash flow is preferred


  • High proficiency in Microsoft Project, knowledge of ERP systems is required; knowledge of JD Edwards and Power BI is an asset


  • Strong analytical and reporting capabilities.


  • High attention to detail and strong interpersonal and communication skills


  • Ability to effectively manage own time, priorities, and activities in a dynamic environment.


  • Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship.

Salary Range: $100,000 - 120,000

The salary offered to the successful person for this position will consider education, experience, relevant skills and capability, geographic location and market conditions at the time of hire.
