Position Details:
Position Type: Full-Time / Contract, 6+ months, with additional opportunities contingent upon performance
Job Location: New Orleans area (with some regional travel)

Compensation: $55 - $75/hr depending upon qualifications

Overview:
Our client is a leading energy company that owns and operates critical midstream infrastructure, including gathering, processing, storage, and transportation assets for crude oil and natural gas across the U.S. Gulf Coast. Their operations play a key role in connecting upstream production to refining and export markets, with a strong footprint in Louisiana and the offshore Gulf of Mexico.

We are seeking a Process Safety Engineer / Designer to support capital projects and ongoing operations, with a focus on process safety and regulatory compliance. This role will be responsible for facilitating Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), supporting and managing the Management of Change (MOC) process, and providing engineering input throughout project lifecycles from concept through execution.

The position will support assets primarily in the New Orleans area, with occasional regional travel throughout southern Louisiana. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in PSM-regulated environments and is comfortable developing and refining design packages, supporting technical reviews, and ensuring safe, compliant project execution.

Key responsibilities include:
• Leading or participating in PHA/HAZOP studies and risk assessments
• Supporting MOC processes, including documentation, reviews, and implementation
• Developing and reviewing engineering/design packages for capital improvements
• Collaborating with operations, maintenance, and project teams to ensure safe execution
• Ensuring compliance with OSHA PSM and applicable industry standards

Primary Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in the chemical, petrochemical, or oil & gas industries
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements and regulatory frameworks
• Demonstrated experience supporting and executing Management of Change (MOC) processes, including documentation and implementation
