Full Job Description
Position Summary/Objectives:

The Process Engineer will be responsible for supporting production processes at the site by evaluating current operating conditions, evaluating performance compared to established kPis, and assisting in the management of process changes as needed to provide continuous improvement for the site. This position will also direct mining activities during the mining season and oversee impound development. In addition, this position will execute capital projects as needed for the above responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Participate in meetings for the purpose of communication within the department and to other departments regarding the status of activities for which this position is responsible.
  • Execute Project related duties (create Capital Authorization Requests, request Quotations, create Purchase Requisitions, etc.)
  • Direct mining activities (determine location of mining for the season, orchestrated any blending of ore bodies, collection of samples for evaluation by Quality Lab, determining effectiveness of mining crew)
  • Assisting in the development of all aspects of strategic mining plan (future impounds, water sources, mineral sources)
  • Analyze Process Metrics and evaluate effectiveness of the Operations departments in meeting those metrics
  • Assist in Continuous Improvement and Process Improvement related discussions and activities, including design efforts (CAD, analysis) for those improvements


Required Education and Experience.

  • BS in an Engineering field required; Civil or Mechanical Engineering focus would be considered a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Office applications.
  • A highly motivated, self-driven individual with a continuous-improvement mindset and ability to work within cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to balance responsibilities for given priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically in order to provide timely and effective solutions.
  • Excellent organizational skills with clear, concise verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with personnel inside/outside the organization.


Preferred Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively analyze cause-effect relationships and drive to root cause for directed improvement efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize continuous improvement tools and methodologies to drive sustainable improvements.
  • Knowledge of surface metal/non-metal mining practices
  • Knowledge of MSHA and associated requirements is a plus
  • 5+ years experience as a Process Engineer
  • 3+ years experience leading/executing major projects
