Full Job Description
The base salary range for this position in as for the job description criteria as listed is $98,000 to $110,0000 annually. Our salary ranges are determined by market data based on position and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum salaries for that position. Where an individual's pay falls within the range is determined by factors including, but not limited to, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

In some cases, compensation may fall outside of this range depending on factors, including a candidate's qualification, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.

Position Overview:

The Process Engineer is responsible for monitoring and optimizing plant process performance for improving plant safety, reliability, and efficiency.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide plant production troubleshooting support and technical support for assigned projects.
  • Investigate and implement ways to reduce costs in Plant processes.
  • Author FEL1 Capital Project scope & justifications.
  • Assist with prioritizing maintenance work.
  • Execute small capital projects, including field construction supervision.
  • Arrange and supervise contractors for assigned projects.
  • Participate in HSES (Health, Safety, Environmental, Sustainability) teams/meetings to address safety and environmental issues.
  • Conduct incident investigations and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Perform release calculations for environmental releases.
  • Analyze problems/opportunities and participate in identifying solution options.
  • Provide technical documentation to provide continuity and prevent recurrence of problems.
  • Support planning, execution, and documentation of Turnaround activities.
  • Provide technical support for startup/shutdown and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with design, analysis, and optimization of highly integrated processes as well as basic unit operations such as reactors or heat exchangers.
  • Manage Operations documentation including SOPs, P&IDs, BFDs, PFDs, Critical Interlock Matrix, Master Alarm List & Control Narratives, and alarm management efforts.
  • Support Management Team initiatives and help drive change.
  • Support Equipment Strategy and Equipment Best Practice compliance.
  • Use operating parameter compliance tools to analyze process and drive improvements.
  • Author RCFAs as needed.
  • Improve process tuning and control schemes.
  • Maintain, update, and improve site control systems including DCS, SIS, PLCs, process data historians and operator rounds.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering
  • 2-5 years chemical plant, refinery, and/or engineering experience
  • Familiarity with industry standards & practices (OSHA, API, ASME, NFPA)
  • Familiarity with PSM/RMP regulations
  • Ability to comprehend equipment, P&ID, loop, etc. drawings.
  • Working knowledge of chemical engineering principles including process controls
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work in the field (climbing stairs and ladders, equipment and vessel entry, etc.)
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to reason and deduce.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint required.
  • Will work in a 24/7 continuous operation chemical manufacturing plant and be required to be on call on a rotational basis.
  • Ability to communicate (both written and verbal) effectively and promptly with all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity or experience with Aspen Tech Process Simulation Software a plus.
