Full Job Description
Position Summary

The Process Engineer reports directly to the Plant Manager and supports the Ceramic business. In this role, the Process Engineer makes technical decisions related to ceramic machining and provides technical direction to their team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for achieving improvements in yield, scrap reduction, cycle time, throughput, equipment utilization, and manufacturing cost.
  • Use an array of tools (DOE, DMAIC) and general statistical analysis methods to drive improvements
  • Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC), process capability analysis (Cp/Cpk), and data-driven decision making to monitor and improve process performance.
  • Leads equipment qualification, process validation, and capital improvement projects including equipment selection, justification, installation, and commissioning.
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen)
  • Provides recommendations for maintaining, diagnosing equipment inefficiencies, and upgrades to existing equipment or acquisition of new equipment as needed.
  • Perform time studies, root cause analysis, and trend analysis.
  • Works closely with new product introduction team to efficiently and cost effectively introduce new products into manufacturing.
  • Provides technical leadership and mentoring to operators and process technicians.
  • Periodically reports progress and status on projects and processes to management in an oral and written manner.
  • Uses technical knowledge and ingenuity to resolve complex problems and provides technical leadership for their area of responsibility.
  • Supports compliance with ISO 9001 quality management system requirements and participates in internal and external audits.
  • Other related duties as directed by management.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing is required
  • Ability to analyze and identify problems, develop appropriate solutions, and implement with available resources to complete complex assignments.
  • Ability to proactively develop new ideas/methodologies for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to interact with other professional staff throughout the organization.
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus


Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methods is a plus.


Physical/Working Requirements
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels and occasional use of chemicals
  • Extended periods of standing combined with sitting and walking
  • Be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

The expected annual salary range for this position is $100-115K.
