Job SummaryResponsible for maintaining current processes by keeping programs and set up documents up to the current revision level. Responsible for programing and fixture designs and flow for new parts, initial setup and validate new processes. This involves overseeing the efficiency and safety of our current manufacturing processes, as well as developing new processes to improve manufacturing efficiency or decrease costs. Needs to be an expert with regards to production equipment and understand how to operate, change the settings, and optimize machine utilization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Lead and support engineering activities on mass production assembly lines, include robotic, conveyorized and bench assembling method.
- Improve quality, reduce change over time and complexity, and production efficiency by working with cross functional team using problem solving tools such as lean A3.5-Why, lean six sigma.
- Drive systematic continuous improvement by using lean and automation manufacturing technologies such as robotics (Fanuc) & Vision, Manufacturing Execution System (MES), electronic process recipe management.
- Manage and implement new process changes driven from product changes and new product launches.
- Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation & Experience- Associate degree in mechanical engineering and / or 10 years of industrial assembly experience or Bachelor's degree with 5 years with industrial assembly experience.
- Proficient in draw process layouts using 2- and 3-dimensional design software such Auto Cad and Creo.
- Good understanding of Statistical Process Controls (SPC).
- Good Understanding of GD&T (Geometrical Dimensional and Tolerancing).
- Tier1 automotive assembly experience is preferred.
- Hands on lean manufacturing and data analytics experience.
- Hands on Lean Six Sigma experience is preferred.
Reasoning & Decision-Making Ability:- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to evaluate processes, equipment capability, design for manufacturability (DFM).
Other Skills & Abilities- Data Analytic using Excel and other advance analytical tools such as JMP.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to communicate with others at a technical level clearly.
Environmental & Physical Demands- Duties are split between an office environment and the manufacturing floor, with frequent exposure to unpleasant or harsh conditions.
- Duties require sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time.
- Occupational noise exposure during performance of some required duties. Adequate hearing protection is provided and required at key locations.
- Occupational exposure to fumes and dust is encountered during performance of some required duties. Personal Protective Equipment including safety glasses and steel-toed, industrial footwear is required at key locations.
- Employee is occasionally required to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
