Process Development Engineer 1

Process Development Engineering at Dell Technologies spans industrial, manufacturing, electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines. It's a hub of expertise that is at the heart of bringing our ground-breaking innovations to life. The team determines the most effective process for assembling Dell products at scale including designing the systems and equipment to scale, training team members to execute, and continuing to implement enhancements for faster and more effective production. The team estimates manufacturing costs, determines time standards and recommends tooling and process requirements with the ability to innovate, source and implement cutting-edge technologies in the factory, such as robotics, cobots and vision systems. The team leads Engineering Change Management across our product life cycles.

What you'll achieve
As a Process Development Engineer 1, you will be responsible for supporting Global Operations Storage and Solutions manufacturing and driving Productivity improvements with Quality focus. You will work with multiple local organizations such as Operations, Quality, Test Engineering, and EH&S to drive key metrics and initiatives. You will have a high level of visibility to teams across Global Operations, including Planning, Operations and Finance to determine manufacturing cost, timing, capacity and equipment requirements.

You will:
  • Support Manufacturing Operations to initiate process improvements to improve factory output and reduce cycle time.
  • Works with other engineers and group teams on projects to exchange information and assist on project completion.
  • Create/update/maintain procedures, methods, operation sequence and process in manufacturing of sub-assemblies, final assemblies and solutions
  • Investigating/vetting new material handling and equipment for use in production
  • Implement new tools and equipment and provide necessary training to operators per EH&S requirements.

Work closely with engineers and operations management to fulfill internal customer needs and communicate results. Could include reviewing parts drawings, specifications and other engineering data
  • Estimate manufacturing cost, determine time standards and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines, including Automation
  • Maintain records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations
  • Be responsible for the timely introduction of new products into the manufacturing environment while ensuring the highest levels of quality
  • Lead Engineering Change Management across product life cycles
  • Collaborate with Planning, Operations and Finance to plan budget and implement capacity and equipment requirements


Essential Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
  • Possess good PC skills and be fully competent in MS Office tools including, Outlook, Excel, Word etc.
  • Possess strong Engineering problem solving, interpersonal communication, and decision-making skills.

Desirable Requirements
  • Previous experience in Manufacturing or Process engineering (or related projects)
  • Automation support experience (robotics, cobots, Vision systems, etc.)


Compensation
  • Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary for this position is $86,310 USD annually
