Full Job Description
Overview

The Principal Technical Lead is a senior individual contributor within the IT organization operating within the enterprise architecture framework. This role provides technical authority for solution design and delivery across CareTria’s business units spanning healthcare, marketing, and logistics.

The Technical Lead translates business requirements into secure, scalable solutions on CareTria’s Microsoft Azure platform using Angular, .NET/C#, and SQL Server. This hands-on role combines technical leadership with delivery execution reviewing designs, guiding implementation, and developing proofs of concept to validate approaches while staying current on emerging technologies, including practical applications of AI. The role operates in a HIPAA-regulated environment and requires confidence communicating with stakeholders as well as deep-diving with engineers in code, data, and integrations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior technical authority across CareTria’s lines of business, providing guidance on complex, cross-domain initiatives spanning healthcare, marketing, and logistics.• Mentor and partner with business unit engineering teams—reviewing designs and code, guiding implementation decisions, and improving consistency and quality across the portfolio.• Lead technical discovery and design sessions (including whiteboard workshops) and drive proofs of concept to evaluate options, validate assumptions, and align an approach before full development.• Identify and address technical debt, design inconsistencies, and systemic quality issues, partnering with engineering leads to delivering practical remediation plans.• Own solution-level technical design for new and modernized systems, producing implementation-ready blueprints for application architecture, data design, integrations, and deployment.• Design and guide cloud-native and hybrid solutions on Microsoft Azure (e.g., App Services, API Management, Service Bus, Azure SQL), selecting appropriate services and patterns for each use case.• Define and apply reusable patterns for .NET/C# services and Angular applications, including API design, service decomposition, data access strategies, and front-end component architecture.• Partner with teams through the delivery lifecycle—from design to release—ensuring technical decisions are implemented as intended and meet quality standards.• Create and maintain clear technical documentation (solution designs, data flows, API specifications, and decision records) as durable references for engineering teams and IT leadership.• Design and oversee integrations across CareTria’s portfolio (logistics platforms, healthcare and pharmacy systems, EDI/supply chain networks, marketing platforms, and client-facing portals), establishing consistent APIs and governance practices.• Evaluate and recommend integration platforms, middleware, and connectivity tools based on requirements, maintainability, and fit within the existing technology landscape.• Maintain hands-on familiarity with existing systems by querying SQL Server data models and validating APIs using tools such as Postman and Swagger/OpenAPI.• Identify where AI/ML can deliver business value (e.g., automation, predictive analytics, natural language processing) and guide teams in implementing practical capabilities.• Lead technical discoveries with stakeholders to clarify requirements, assess feasibility, and develop solution options with effort and complexity estimates.• Communicate technical options, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, bridging business intent and engineering execution.• Provide technical input to vendor evaluations, RFI/RFP responses, and buy-vs.-build decisions, assessing alignment with CareTria’s technology landscape.• Ensure solutions meet HIPAA and enterprise security standards, incorporating data protection, access control, and secure coding practices throughout design and delivery.• Partner with Information Security on threat assessments, secure design reviews, and remediation of security findings.• Collaborate with the leader of Cloud Operations and Infrastructure to ensure solutions align with platform capabilities, infrastructure standards, and operational support needs.• Stay current on cloud, AI, and engineering practices and recommend improvements that strengthen product capabilities and delivery.

The above duties are meant to be representative of the position and not all-inclusive.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master's degree in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or Business Administration (MIS) is a plus.

•        10+ years of progressive hands-on experience in software engineering and technical leadership, with a track record of serving as the senior technical resource on complex, cross-domain solutions.

•        Experience as a senior individual contributor in an enterprise architecture–governed environment, with clarity on solution-level leadership versus enterprise architecture strategy.

•        Expert-level proficiency in .NET/C# application development, RESTful API design, and Angular front-end development, with the ability to actively contribute to and guide engineering teams at a code and design level.

•        Proven experience designing and delivering cloud-native and hybrid solutions on Microsoft Azure, including Azure App Services, Azure API Management, Azure Service Bus, Azure SQL Database, and related PaaS services.

•        Strong proficiency in SQL Server — capable of independently writing complex queries, analyzing data models, and assessing existing data architecture to inform solution design decisions.

•        Hands-on experience with API development and testing tooling including Postman and Swagger/OpenAPI, with the ability to independently explore, validate, and document existing API behavior and integration surfaces.
