Partnering closely with investment professionals, portfolio company management teams, and external ecosystem partners, this role supports portfolio company growth initiatives through strategic introductions, business partnerships, advisor network connectivity, targeted events, talent and growth initiatives.

This individual will be a trusted partner to both investment professionals and management teams, delivering differentiated support that helps portfolio companies achieve their strategic objectives. This is a highly collaborative role that combines relationship building, strategic problem solving, and hands-on execution. The successful candidate will strengthen TVG's North American growth and partnerships capabilities by developing scalable programs, deep relationship networks, and technology tools that create meaningful impact across the portfolio.

Who you'll work with

This TVG role works in close partnership with Ontario Teachers Portfolio Solutions Group (PSG) to support portfolio growth across TVG's portfolio. The Principal will work closely with TVG investment professionals, portfolio company management teams, and PSG colleagues to identify, develop, and execute initiatives that accelerate growth and create portfolio value.

This is a highly external-facing role that requires proactive relationship building across the venture and growth equity ecosystem across North America and specifically the US. The Principal will regularly engage with founders, executives, operators, advisors, customers, strategic partners, and talent networks to create opportunities for portfolio companies, while collaborating closely with colleagues across TVG and PSG to deliver growth and partnership initiatives.

What you'll do
  • Partner with TVG investment professionals and portfolio company management teams to identify, prioritize, and execute initiatives that accelerate growth and support strategic objectives across the portfolio.

  • Build and maintain relationships across the North American venture ecosystem, leveraging these networks to facilitate strategic introductions, partnerships, talent opportunities, and other initiatives that create value for portfolio companies.

  • Manage and expand TVG's network of advisors, operators, and industry experts, connecting portfolio companies with relevant expertise, talent, and resources.

  • Design and scale growth programs, tools, and capabilities that strengthen TVG's portfolio support model and enhance support for portfolio companies.

  • Lead or support strategic projects across the portfolio, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive execution and measurable outcomes.

  • Measure and communicate the impact of growth and partnership initiatives, providing insights and updates to investment teams, portfolio company leadership, and senior stakeholders.

  • The Principal will exercise a high degree of independent judgment in identifying, prioritizing, and executing growth initiatives across TVG's portfolio. The role independently manages relationships with portfolio companies, advisors, operators, customers, and strategic partners, while determining the most effective approaches to support growth and strategic objectives.

  • Responsible for developing recommendations related to growth priorities, strategic partnerships, talent opportunities, events and portfolio support initiatives. Decisions with significant strategic, financial, or reputational implications are made in consultation with the Senior Managing Director, TVG, and Director, PSG, and other senior stakeholders as appropriate.

What you'll need

  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in venture capital, growth equity, private equity, investment banking, consulting, or operating roles within high growth technology companies, or growth and partnerships/platform functions supporting growth stage businesses.

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, or a related field.

  • Possesses a natural curiosity and a lifelong commitment to learning, balanced by the humility to listen, adapt, and collaborate. A natural connector who thoughtfully builds a trusted network of relationships over time, prioritizing depth, authenticity, and mutual value over transactional interactions.

  • The role requires strong judgment, initiative, and problem solving skills to navigate competing priorities, evolving business needs, and a dynamic venture ecosystem.

  • Strong understanding of the venture capital, growth equity, and technology ecosystem, including founders, operators, investors, advisors, and strategic partners.

  • Knowledge of growth stage company challenges and growth levers, including commercial growth, talent, strategic partnerships, and operational scaling.

  • Understanding of portfolio growth frameworks and best practices within venture capital, growth equity, or private markets.

  • Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools is an asset.

  • Demonstrated experience building and managing relationships with senior executives, founders, and external stakeholders, with a proven ability to influence outcomes and create value through collaboration.

  • Experience developing and executing strategic initiatives, partnerships, programs, or projects that drive growth, operational improvement, talent acquisition, or commercial outcomes.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a dynamic environment.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with experience engaging effectively with senior leadership teams and external partners.

  • Proven ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and thrive in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.
