Description

SAIC is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer onsite in Colorado Springs, CO with experience in space operations, space system sustainment or space acquisitions to join the Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) Team.

PNT SE&I provides engineering, integration, technical analysis, and subject matter expertise (SME) support to the US Space Force. As a member of our PNT SE&I Team, you'll work in a fast-paced environment with Government personnel and systems engineers to provide systems engineering and analysis services to include system development, enterprise and system architecture, acquisition, testing, operations, and sustainment support for existing and new capabilities. You will also provide an enterprise perspective for identification and review of risks and risk mitigation plans and work to institutionalize systems engineering best practices across the organization. Major duties of this position include:

Duties:
  • Directly supporting the SE&I Operations and Sustainment Lead
  • Ensuring effective requirements integration across operational space and ground, hardware and software, and all other aspects of systems and organizations for control segment capabilities
  • Interacting with the prime contractor and government leads to ensure that all system requirements and interfaces are consistent and valid across operations and the enterprise
  • Understanding multiple system requirements and capability baselines, and producing visualization products identifying the capability insertion activities for individual system baselines
  • Supporting the customer in defining, capturing, and maintaining the technical, schedule, cost, and risk data throughout the system lifecycle, as well as developing risk mitigation courses of action and assessing impacts of risks and proposed changes
  • Identifying derived requirements from government specifications and interface control documents, and assisting with translating requirements into tasks for hardware and software sustainment and development
  • Developing, documenting, executing, integrating, and evolving systems engineering processes as required to enable effective SSC/PNT Enterprise systems engineering and integration efforts
  • Assessing proposed Enterprise baseline changes for impacts to operational system requirements and capabilities, and future sustainability
  • Support integrating activities over the lifecycle of systems within the Enterprise including pre-contractual, requirements development, as well as operations and sustainment capabilities
  • Developing operations and sustainment related briefings, plans, papers, and other documentation in support of SSC/PNT Enterprise decision making
  • Collaborating with prime contractors, other support contractors, government civilians, and members of the U.S. Air Force and Space Force
  • Participating in Integrated Product Teams, Product Support Manager meetings, and other programmatic and sustainment activities

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of relevant experience or Master's degree and 7+ years relevant experience
  • Extremely motivated individual who is a self-starter and works well in a diverse team environment
  • Demonstrated experience working with Air Force/Space Force/DoW customers in an operations and sustainment environment, with Space Systems (especially at SSC)
  • Experience writing and delivering technical documents, analysis, and briefings
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills as well as being highly organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills to enable working, interfacing, and communicating with diverse personnel and dynamic teams
  • Active SECRET security clearance
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • GPS and/or USSF experience
  • Active Top Secret security clearance

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
