Full Job Description
Overview

The Windows Servicing Delivery (WSD) organization is responsible for delivering protected, productive, and predictable servicing experiences for Windows customers around the world. As security threats continue to evolve and engineering systems become increasingly complex, WSD is investing in modern engineering platforms that improve the speed, quality, transparency, and reliability of security servicing across the Windows ecosystem.

The Experiences Platform (EXP) team is focused on transforming critical engineering workflows from isolated tools and point solutions into trusted, reusable platform capabilities that improve developer productivity, strengthen security outcomes, and enable consistent engineering practices at scale. Our mission is to help engineering teams make better decisions faster through trusted workflows, actionable insights, durable platform services, and responsible use of AI-powered experiences.

As a Principal Software Engineer Manager, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for building and operating platform capabilities that support security servicing workflows across the engineering lifecycle. You will partner closely with engineering, validation, security, product management, and architecture teams to deliver solutions that improve workflow orchestration, evidence-based decision making, release readiness, engineering productivity, and operational excellence.

This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of AI, engineering systems, security servicing, workflow automation, developer productivity, and platform engineering. You will help shape the future of trusted engineering experiences while growing your leadership capabilities, mentoring engineers, and driving technical outcomes that directly influence how Windows security servicing is delivered.

This role is flexible and will allow you to partner with your manager to define the way that you work best while supporting collaboration across globally distributed teams.

Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & People Management
  • Lead, coach, and develop a healthy, high-performing engineering team by creating clarity, establishing priorities, fostering an inclusive culture, and helping engineers grow their technical and leadership capabilities.

Platform Strategy & Delivery
  • Drive the technical direction, design, implementation, and adoption of Experiences Platform capabilities that improve engineering productivity, workflow efficiency, and operational effectiveness across security servicing scenarios.

Trusted Engineering Systems
  • Deliver platform experiences that support engineering workflows spanning security intake, engineering assessment, remediation, validation, release readiness, and post-release learning while promoting consistency, reliability, and scalability.

Security Agent Platform Architecture
  • Partner with engineering teams and architects to build and evolve shared platform capabilities, workflow orchestration services, context-sharing mechanisms, observability models, and integration patterns that enable trusted agent-assisted engineering experiences.

Responsible AI & Governance
  • Implement governance capabilities, evaluation frameworks, quality standards, auditability requirements, and human-in-the-loop controls that support responsible adoption of AI-powered engineering workflows.

Cross-Organizational Partnership
  • Collaborate with TSX, Windows Engineering, Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC), Validation, Engineering Systems, Product Management, IDC teams, and other stakeholders to align technical dependencies, platform contracts, operational readiness plans, and engineering priorities.

Operational Excellence
  • Establish engineering excellence practices through architecture reviews, reliability improvements, telemetry-driven decision making, incident learning, security reviews, live-site readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen platform health and customer outcomes.
