Position Description:

Drives the architecture and implementation of complex, distributed systems by developing scalable cloud- native solutions and optimizing performance across compute, data, and integration layers. Contributes to strategic technical direction by evaluating emerging technologies, defining reference architectures, and establishing advanced engineering patterns for event-driven, API-first, and microservices-based systems. Partners with product, architecture, and cross-domain engineering teams to design high-throughput services, improve system resilience, and ensure alignment with long-term platform modernization goals. Influences solution quality by diagnosing intricate production issues, optimizing system reliability and security, and ensuring adherence to architectural guardrails. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing and deploying applications built on a Salesforce CRM Platform, using configuration, programmatic customization, and CI/CD tools (Jenkins and GIT).

Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing and deploying applications built on a Salesforce CRM Platform, using configuration, programmatic customization, and CI/CD tools (Jenkins and GIT).

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") customizing SDL Tridion functionality to support content management development of defined benefits, defined contribution, health and welfare, and stock plan service applications, using .NET, Java, C#, and Core Tridion APIs.
  • DE performing broker wallet optimizations using J2EE Object-Oriented Development (OOD); deploying enterprise integration patterns using REST protocols, JSON/XML data formats, Spring Framework, Visual Studio .NET, Java, and JavaScript; and performing deployment management on Apache Tomcat servers, WebSphere application server, and Apache httpd.
  • DE performing business acceptance testing using OBIEE, Oracle, Java, Cucumber, Karate, Selenium, and Protractor; and performing production sign-off for release deployments, triage, and root cause analysis for production support incidents of application, using Angular, Java, and Oracle.
  • DE working in all stages of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) -- gathering and analyzing requirements and performing application design and development -- using C++, Python, and SQL in a Linux environment; performing software application testing to meet functional and non-functional requirements, using Python and Shell scripting; and providing level 3 support for applications in production.
