The Impact You Will Have in This Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Director of Snowflake Platform Engineering to lead the design, scalability, and reliability of DTCC's enterprise data platform.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will drive the evolution of Snowflake capabilities across mission-critical applications-enabling innovation, strengthening platform resiliency, and delivering data solutions at enterprise scale.

You will partner with global engineering teams to modernize the platform, optimize performance, and champion best practices in cloud data engineering.

Your Primary Responsibilities:
  • Own and evolve the enterprise Snowflake platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and stability
  • Drive platform innovation, including evaluation, integration, and rollout of new Snowflake features
  • Lead reliability engineering initiatives, ensuring robust disaster recovery, backup, and resiliency strategies
  • Automate platform deployment and operations using scripting and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools
  • Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines to streamline Snowflake development and operational workflows
  • Partner with application teams to enable seamless onboarding, integration, and optimal platform utilization
  • Provide expert-level (L3) support, troubleshooting and resolving complex platform issues
  • Design and implement secure, scalable cloud architecture aligned with enterprise standards
  • Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, and training materials to support global teams
  • Collaborate across global teams (US and offshore) to deliver high-quality, scalable data solutions
  • Act as a trusted advisor and SME, guiding best practices for Snowflake implementation and optimization
  • Partner with Snowflake and external vendors to resolve issues and continuously enhance platform capabilities

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in data platform, cloud, or database engineering

Talent Needed for Success
  • Deep expertise in Snowflake platform engineering and administration (must-have)
  • Strong foundation in data warehousing concepts, including dimensional modeling
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and modern data ecosystems
  • Proven experience in database administration and platform engineering
  • Proficiency in Python and/or Bash/SQL scripting for automation
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins, Bitbucket)
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Strong understanding of platform resiliency, disaster recovery, and backup strategies
  • Experience working in Agile environments with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred
  • Snowflake certifications (SnowPro Core or advanced certifications)
  • Experience integrating Snowflake with IAM/security frameworks (e.g., Entra ID, HashiCorp Vault)
  • Exposure to observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Grafana, Dynatrace)
  • Knowledge of FinOps and cost optimization strategies within Snowflake
  • Experience with Snowflake advanced capabilities (Snowpipe, Snowpark, streaming, Cortex AI)
  • Familiarity with BI/analytics tools (Power BI, Looker, QuickSight)
  • Experience with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) and enterprise support models

The salary range is indicative for roles at the same level within DTCC across all US locations. Actual salary is determined based on the role, location, individual experience, skills, and other considerations.
