Principal Scientist - Care & Treats

As a Principal Scientist you will lead the R&D delivery of high stakes and complex projects for the Care & Treats (C&T) Technology Platform. Support R&D, Q&FS, SRA and TLT Functions providing technical leadership, extensive knowledge and technical expertise of scientific disciplines.

Reporting to the Senior Director C&T Category this position leads the deployment of transformational innovation projects. Lead VL, CT & Resilience challenging status quo initiatives. Engage in complex troubleshooting opportunities including site, NSQ and Q&FS challenges. Ignite a culture of knowledge-sharing and continuous technical growth by actively sharing your expertise and empowering fellow R&D Associates to excel.

What are we looking for?
  • Bachelor's Degree (Minimum) in Food Science Technology, Engineering or Relative Field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in similar role or industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of C&T process equipment, pet product performance and raw materials used in C&T Technology.
  • Experience in capturing & leveraging knowledge, as well as functional capability building for R&D.
  • Strong track record of driving results.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence without authority a variety of stakeholders.


What will your key responsibilities be?
  • Direct the R&D team on a high complexity technical projects (i.e. introduction of new technologies, deployment of transformational innovation, deployment and continuous improvement of technical standards, significantly novel raw materials, critical site troubleshooting, etc.).
  • Leads translations of technology ideas into visual, physical models & working prototypes in collaboration & alignment with AOE teams.
  • Provides extensive knowledge on C&T relevant food science principles & unit operations within manufacturing.
  • Shares technical expertise in test plan development, experimental setup, test execution and data analysis. Quantify key product attributes, process and packaging machine parameters and fundamental mechanisms at both pilot and factory scale.
  • Drives knowledge management & functional capability building for C&T R&D.
  • Collaborate with Supply-Engineering to assist in the management of scale-up risk and introduction of new technologies into the NA supply chain.
  • Scans and delivers IP opportunities in established space as well as greenfield opportunities.
  • Performs role of SPOC for NA technical inputs on TNT CAB needs.
