In Business Cards and Payments (BC&P), we are on a mission to pave the path for businesses to do more business. Within the BC&P Operating Office, we serve as the operational engine, enabling alignment, velocity, and resilience across the organization. Our office is comprised of three pillars - Strategic, Organizational, and Top of House Operations - that collectively drive our commitment to operational excellence. We are seeking a forward-thinking Principal Risk Associate to help advance our BC&P operational strategy.
You will help lead automation, artificial intelligence, and innovative ways to elevate the maturity of our operational processes along with ensuring proper regulatory compliance. By partnering with stakeholders to implement scalable, technology-forward solutions, you will drive adherence to well managed practices while identifying and operationalizing process improvements.

Job Responsibilities:
Regulatory Oversight: Working with the business to ensure proper implementation of processes/programs to be compliant with new regulatory laws like Dodd-Frank Section 1071.
GenAI Governance: Partner with GenAI Director to ensure a well managed approach for GenAI across BC&P pre and post implementation.
LAUNCH Initiative: Partnering with key stakeholders to ensure the LAUNCH is efficient for BC&P by monitoring and managing the implementation of the change initiative, track progress, adjust as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
At least 4 years of experience in Risk Management, Project Management, Process Management, Compliance, or Audit
At least 3 years of experience working with business and risk teams to drive cross-functional operational initiatives
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in Risk Management, Project Management, Process Management, Compliance, or Audit
Proven track record of transforming operational workflows and enhancing process maturity through the implementation of automation, data-driven insights, and technology-led solutions
Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguous environments and manage multiple priorities autonomously
Experience leveraging automation tools such as: GenAI, workflow automation, or data visualization to transform operational workflows

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $120,800 - $137,900 for Principal Risk SpecialistRichmond, VA: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Risk Specialist
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
