Full Job Description
Role Overview

ButterflyMX is hiring a Principal Product Manager to lead and reimagine the Core platform experience. You'll own the experience that our property managers and channel partners have, relentlessly focused on how to make their lives easier, more delightful, and productive. This is a role for someone who can hit the ground running while bringing the curiosity, critical thinking, and rigor to evolve the platform.

Responsibilities
  • Own the product roadmap for our core access platform: evaluate what we've scoped, stress-test the assumptions, and evolve the plan based on what you learn
  • Conduct rigorous discovery by getting close to end users and operators, sharpening the problem definition while iterating with Design and Engineering on the solution
  • Embed AI into the product where it creates genuine value, not as a feature checkbox but as a lever for better experiences and smarter operations
  • Make smart calls about what we build versus partner versus white-label
  • Establish the metrics that matter and hold yourself accountable to them

Requirements
  • 7+ years in product management with a track record of owning products from concept to market and driving tangible outcomes for the business
  • An agentic-first product approach, with experience shipping products where software takes action on someone's behalf
  • Experience in bringing a mature product into its next version, knowing how to sequence a migration, hold backwards compatibility, and ship a fundamental change seamlessly
  • Depth in the foundation that makes platform experiences seamless: permissions, identity, RBAC, onboarding
  • An ownership mindset coupled with comfort with ambiguity and curiosity, getting energy from being able to define the path forward
  • Strong organization and attention to detail, delivering projects and leading cross functional teams with executional excellence
  • Strong product taste and UX sense, knowing what good is and being able to defend it
  • Sharp communication skills, being able to influence across engineering, design, go-to-market, and leadership by writing well, presenting clearly, and earning trust without authority
  • A builder's mindset: you don't just write specs and hand them off. You prototype, tinker, use the tools available to you today to explore ideas quickly, and you close the loop between what you ask engineering to build and how it actually works

Bonus: at least one of
  • Physical security, access control, PropTech, or IoT experience
  • B2B2C products where the buyer and the daily user are different people
  • Experience in hardware and software systems working together

Compensation

The expected base salary range for this position is $200,000-$240,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors including budget, skills, experience, location, and internal equity. This position may also be eligible for bonuses, equity, or other forms of compensation, where applicable.

Benefits
  • Comprehensive Medical, Dental and Vision plans (ButterflyMX covers 80% of the cost) starting day 1
  • 401(k) plan with a match
  • 10 paid holidays, 20 vacation days, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays
  • Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance (ButterflyMX covers 100% of the cost)
  • Short and Long Term Disability (ButterflyMX covers 100% of the cost)
  • Paid Family Leave
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Quarterly self-care stipends
  • Access to optional benefits including pre-tax flexible healthcare spending accounts (FSA and HSA), Dependent Care FSA, and Commuter Benefits, as well as optional Supplemental Life, AD&D, Hospital Indemnity, Legal, Accident, Critical Illness, Pet, and Personal Liability Insurance
  • And more!
