About the Role

We are looking for a Principal Product Designer to help lead our FinTech Design here at Engine. Whether it be beautifully simple payment experiences, designing frictionless complex billing portals, or our first credit card, this team is spearheading our entire fintech play from a design standpoint.

As a Principal Product Designer, you'll lead projects of significant scope and complexity from vision to execution. When we say vision, we mean it. Projects start with where we're headed, so we know how to get there.

Design at Engine is made up of 30+ incredible Product Designers, Creatives, Art Directors, Brand Managers, and leaders driving product vision and shaping a Design culture like no other.

Designers at Engine are part of what we call the Big 4-the core team of Product, Design, Engineering, and Data that drive the roadmap and vision for their area. Together, you'll shape strategy for your area and ship features that have immediate and lasting impact on the product.

Successful designers at Engine chase opportunities, have strong conviction, and hold a high bar for product excellence. If that sounds like you, let's go!
Here's What You'll Do
  • Partner closely across disciplines to define and deliver features that meet real user needs.
  • Turn complex ideas into clear, simple flows.
  • Design for the best outcomes.
  • Build trust and collaboration with product, engineering, and design peers while raising the quality bar across the org.
  • Lead design reviews, refine how we gather feedback and make decisions.
  • Continuously push fellow designers to sharpen their craft and clarity.
Here's What You Get

At Engine, extraordinary effort is met with extraordinary returns. We turn ambitious employees into industry leaders by providing:
  • Unmatched Growth: You're surrounded by the best in the biz and we invest in our top performers.
  • Ownership and Freedom: You're a driver, not a passenger, of our success.
  • Rebellious Spirit: We never say no to a good idea and are willing to take smart risks.
  • Unconventional Collaboration: We play by our own rules
  • The Best You: We expect that everyone shows up as their true self, never self-censor.
Here's What We're Looking For
  • 8+ years' experience with a mastery of the full 0-1 product development process-from product planning and discovery to concepts, build-ready designs, prototypes.
  • Extensive experience in FinTech domains and a product focus in spend management, card issuing, bill payment, insights and more.
  • Strong UX foundation and experience building net-new products.
  • Strong craft in visual, interaction, and UX design with a focus on simplicity, utility, and delight.
  • Proven experience managing stakeholders in partnership with PMs, engineers, data, and executives.
  • Proficiency in modern design tools like Figma, design systems, and emerging AI tech such as Pencil / Cursor.
  • Clear communication and storytelling skills-you can explain not just what you designed, but why.
  • Strategic influence and proven experience in shaping Design strategy.
  • Must include your portfolio (w/ password if applicable).
