Purpose:Worley is seeking a Principal Process Engineer to serve as a process engineering lead for Baton Rouge/Gulf Coast projects. This role provides technical leadership and supervision within the process engineering team, manages process engineering scope, and ensures deliverables meet Worley, client, statutory, regulatory, HSE, quality, budget, and schedule requirements. The Principal Process Engineer leads process engineering execution on small to large projects, supports proposals and studies, interfaces directly with clients and project leadership, and guides engineers and designers through complex technical and execution challenges.
Responsibilities:- Act as the Process Engineering Lead on assigned projects, including planning, coordinating, checking, and approving process engineering deliverables.
- Define process engineering scope, estimates, schedules, staffing plans, deliverable lists, and execution strategies for proposals, studies, FEED, and detailed design projects.
- Lead development, review, and approval of heat and material balances, PFDs, P&IDs, process simulations, hydraulic calculations, relief/flare analyses, equipment specifications, process data sheets, and technical studies.
- Manage process engineering requirements and ensure changes are evaluated and controlled through project change management processes.
- Direct and coordinate process engineering work with multidisciplinary teams, Worley Global Integrated Delivery resources, project managers, customers, vendors, and construction/commissioning teams.
- Lead support for HAZOP, LOPA, design reviews, model reviews, constructability reviews, field walkdowns, tie-in planning, and technical issue resolution for operating facilities.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and supervision to process engineers and designers; assign tasks, monitor progress, and support development of less experienced personnel.
- Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and proactively resolve discrepancies between Worley, client, statutory, regulatory, HSE, and quality requirements.
What you will bring Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements: - Typically 12+ years of process engineering experience supporting refining, chemical, petrochemical, industrial, energy, or similar facilities and projects.
- Demonstrated experience leading process engineering work on multidisciplinary projects in brownfield, sustaining capital, revamp, debottlenecking, expansion, or similar operating facility environments.
- Excellent knowledge of process engineering fundamentals, process safety principles, applicable local and international codes and standards, and statutory and regulatory specifications.
- Strong ability to lead diverse teams, coordinate project execution, communicate with clients, and make sound technical decisions with limited supervision.
- Competent use of MS Office Suite and process engineering software such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, PIPE-FLO, AFT Fathom/Arrow, or similar tools.
- Ability to support the Baton Rouge, LA office and travel periodically to local client sites and operating facilities as project needs require.
Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training: Required: - Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from a recognized college or university.
Preferred: - Professional Engineer (PE) status is preferred.
