Principal PMM: Developer Advocacy and Technology Marketing

Fastly's edge cloud platform sits at the intersection of performance, security, and modern application development. We're building a team to tell that story better than anyone. This is a new lead role within Developer Marketing, and it's designed for someone who has spent a career at the crossroads of engineering and communication.

You'll spend your time doing three things: creating best-in-class technical content that helps developers understand what's possible on Fastly's platform, partnering across product, engineering, and customer teams to build reference architectures and working prototypes that demonstrate real-world value, and developing enablement resources that help practitioners go from zero to productive faster. This isn't a role where you hand off work to a writer or an engineer -- you do both.

What You'll Do:
  • Technical Content and Thought Leadership: You'll produce authoritative public-facing content across formats: deep-dive technical tutorials, architecture guides, blog posts, demos, and video walkthroughs. Content should do more than explain features; it should advance how engineers think about edge computing, performance, and security infrastructure. You'll own the editorial bar for technical accuracy and practical relevance.
  • Reference Architectures and Prototyping: Working closely with Fastly's product, solutions, and engineering teams, as well as select customer partners, you'll design and build reference architectures that demonstrate how Fastly's platform solves complex, real-world problems. These artifacts become proof points, go-to-market assets, and the foundation for new developer use cases.
  • Enablement and Education: You'll partner with customer engineering and solutions teams to understand where practitioners get stuck and build content that closes those gaps.

What We're Looking For:
  • 5+ years working at the intersection of software engineering and technical communication, with meaningful time in developer relations, solutions engineering, or technical product marketing at a platform or infrastructure company.
  • Hands-on experience with complex enterprise implementations. You know what "production-grade" means, and you can guide customers to that standard.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; you can write a compelling blog post and a working config in the same afternoon
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in ambiguous environments.
  • Hands-on experience with technologies like CDN, networking, edge computing, security tooling (WAF, DDoS, bot mitigation), or API infrastructure
  • Comfortable across common developer/devops ecosystems and able to meet engineers where they are.
  • Experience with AI/ML integration patterns and modern application architectures is a plus
