Parsons is now hiring an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer for our expanding portfolio of federal projects. This role is primarily to support the design functions on refurbishment and renovation of small to large complex facility, infrastructure, equipment, and systems. You will work with BIM specialists/designers to review drawings and provide technical input on drawings and specifications suitable for procurement and system installation.

This role will be in Parsons’ new design center office located in beautiful Kingsport, Tennessee but may require some occasional on-site construction support work at other locations across the US

Ability to obtain a DOE or DOW security clearance.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Perform complex engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately.
• Extract engineering information from CAD drawings.
• Prepare engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
• Complete a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes.
• Prepare detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.
• Prepare and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
• Provide technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical-related design issues.
• Mentor and train junior process engineers.
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or another related field and at least 10+ years of related work experience.
• Professional Engineer Registration in State of Tennessee or ability to obtain one.
• Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations.

• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Familiarity of industry practices and regulations are required.
• Must possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project.

Salary Range: $103,500.00 - $181,100.00
