Full Job Description
Elucid is at the forefront of quantitative imaging, tissue characterization, and atherosclerotic plaque analysis, and we're continuing to grow our engineering organization! As a Principal Imaging and AI Engineer, you'll design our classical image processing algorithms and own them all the way into production. You'll set technical direction for our image processing architecture, mentor engineers, and influence design decisions across teams. You'll build the high-performance C++ pipelines and services that process large volumetric imaging datasets, partnering with machine learning and visualization engineers to ensure your work fits seamlessly into our platform. Your work will put clinically meaningful insights into physicians' hands, helping them to better understand and treat cardiovascular disease with their patients.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • 7+ years of experience developing classical image processing algorithms and integrating them into commercial software.
  • Hands-on experience with CT/CTA or other volumetric medical imaging data, including segmentation and registration techniques, and familiarity with standards such as DICOM.
  • Strong modern C++ skills and a solid foundation in software design principles and patterns (e.g., object-oriented design, template-based generic programming).
  • Experience optimizing software for performance, including algorithmic efficiency, memory usage, file I/O, and parallel execution, using tools and techniques such as multithreading and profiling
  • A track record of building maintainable production systems in collaborative, fast-paced engineering environments.
  • Enthusiasm for working at the intersection of image processing, machine learning, and scalable software systems.
  • CUDA or other GPU programming experience and familiarity with machine learning are a plus.
Work Location
  • For local candidates in Greater Boston, we operate in a hybrid model with regular in-office collaboration. Candidates outside of the Boston area are invited to apply as fully-remote employees.
Salary Range:
  • The anticipated base salary range for this position at Elucid is $180,000-$215,000. Compensation will be influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity, job-related knowledge, skills, education, relevant experience, certifications, and geography as outlined in the job description.

At Elucid, we believe the best work happens in a flexible hybrid environment. Boston-area employees are encouraged to work from the office on Mondays and Wednesdays, with the option to come in additional days if they prefer. Fully remote employees outside the Boston area come in as needed.

We understand that self-doubt can sometimes prevent great candidates from applying. If you believe you can make an impact at Elucid, even if you don't meet every qualification, we encourage you to apply!
