Job DescriptionWe are now looking for a technical leader and Website Architect to take ownership of OleOle Sport's technology platform. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone capable of architecting and building the website and underlying commerce platform, integrating ticket and travel inventory from multiple providers, and ultimately building and leading the engineering team responsible for OleOle Sport.
The right person will have significant experience building high-scale consumer commerce, travel, ticketing, booking, reservation, or marketplace platforms and will be comfortable owning the technology from architecture through production.
QualificationsWe are looking for a highly experienced, hands-on technical leader who can take ownership of OleOle Sport from architecture through production. The right candidate should be comfortable operating as both a Website Architect and senior individual contributor, making critical technical decisions while personally building significant parts of the platform.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant experience at Staff, Principal, Lead, Architect, or equivalent level.
- Proven experience architecting and building high-scale consumer transactional platforms.
- Strong preference for direct experience in travel, ticketing, hospitality, reservations, booking platforms, marketplaces, or complex e-commerce.
- Hands-on experience designing systems involving inventory, availability, pricing, reservations/orders, checkout, payments, fulfillment, cancellations, refunds, and reconciliation.
- Experience integrating multiple external suppliers, vendors, APIs, payment providers, or inventory sources and designing abstraction layers that avoid dependency on any single provider.
- Strong understanding of transactional reliability, including idempotency, retries, concurrency, inventory holds, partial failures, asynchronous workflows, reconciliation, and recovery.
- Deep full-stack engineering experience with modern consumer web technologies. Experience with React, Next.js, TypeScript, Java, Go, Rust, Python, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, AWS, Kubernetes, or comparable technologies is valuable.
- Experience designing highly available systems capable of handling significant traffic spikes and high-value transactions.
- Strong understanding of security, authentication, payment security, observability, testing, CI/CD, and production operations.
- Experience with international and multilingual consumer products is highly desirable.
- Experience architecting large-scale SEO or programmatic SEO platforms, including SSR, structured data/schema, canonical URLs, hreflang, internal linking, sitemap architecture, crawl/indexation management, and web performance, is a major advantage.
- Production experience with AI/LLM systems, agents, tool/function calling, recommendation systems, or AI-assisted content/data platforms is also valuable.
- Ability to work closely with OleOle's CTO, payments architecture leadership, product, design, and other platform teams while maintaining clear ownership of OleOle Sport.
- Ability and desire to remain deeply hands-on. We are not looking for someone who only manages engineers or produces architecture diagrams.
- Experience recruiting, mentoring, and eventually leading a small, high-performing engineering team.
- Strong product judgment and the ability to take an early-stage business requirement and turn it into a production architecture without requiring a large organization around you.
Current Compensation Structure
OleOle is currently pre-funding, and this position begins under a written deferred-compensation agreement. This is not free work, volunteer work, or an unpaid internship. Compensation is earned and accrues from the beginning of the engagement and is paid once OleOle closes its funding.
Following funding, the position transitions to a normal competitive market salary plus equity and token ownership, giving the technical leader of OleOle Sport meaningful long-term participation in the business being built.
Our current team, including the founder and senior technical leadership, is operating under the same deferred-compensation model while we complete the funding process.
