Principal Engineer - Mealz Description: Mealz is building the marketplace for group dining - reimagining how restaurants, event organizers, and consumers coordinate large-group dining experiences from start to finish. Today, planning group dining is still fragmented, manual, and operationally painful. Mealz is creating a centralized platform that streamlines everything from restaurant discovery and booking to onboarding, workflow automation, and eventually AI-assisted coordination. The platform is already live with restaurants actively onboarding and bookings/payments in motion. This is an opportunity to join at the ground floor of a high-upside marketplace startup and help shape the product, architecture, and long-term technical vision from day one We're looking for a Principal Engineer who operates like a founding engineer. We want someone who can: • build quickly • think like a product owner • improve UX/workflows • make strong technical decisions • leverage AI-native development workflows • help scale a marketplace platform from early traction 1 breakout growth You'll work closely with our Product Manager, Lead Developer, and founding team to evolve the platform and help defi ne what the product becomes over time. What You'll Work On • Marketplace and booking workflows • Restaurant onboarding automation • AI-assisted operational tooling • Payments and workflow systems • Product architecture and scalability • UX optimization and conversion flows • Future integrations with POS/reservation systems Ideal Background • 5+ years of engineering experience • Strong full-stack product engineering background • Startup or founding engineer experience • Marketplace, booking, e-commerce, or workflow systems experience • Product-minded with strong UX instincts • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and ownership • AI-native development workflows (Claude, Cursor, GPT, etc.)
