Job Description

The Principal Engineer - Aftermarket provides critical engineering support for our products and systems post-sale. This role focuses on maximizing equipment uptime, performance, and longevity by diagnosing complex field and Repair & Maintenance (R&M) issues, designing retrofit kits, and developing custom engineering solutions for legacy products. Acting as a vital bridge between field service teams, manufacturing, and the customer, you will turn operational challenges into engineering solutions that drive long-term client satisfaction and aftermarket revenue growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Field and R&M Engineering Support: Diagnose complex equipment failures, perform root cause failure analysis (RCFA), and provide timely technical solutions to field service teams and customers
  • Retrofit & Upgrade Design: Create custom modifications, upgrade packages, and engineered solutions to improve the efficiency, safety, and reliability of installed systems
  • Documentation & CAD Modelling: Generate detailed 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, schematics, and accurate bills of materials (BOMs) for replacement and legacy parts
  • Technical Asset Management: Develop and update product repair manuals, preventative maintenance guidelines, service bulletins, and testing procedures
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the product line, sales, supply chain, and production teams to scope custom repair projects, estimate engineering hours, and build accurate customer quotes
  • Leadership: Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across teams.
  • QHSE: Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements during all service activities


Required:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in product design or field engineering, with proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or Creo)
  • Proven track record of conducting root cause failure analysis and mechanical or electrical troubleshooting on industrial equipment,
  • Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) equipment experience and process
  • Proficient with the offshore drilling process (e.g., drilling engineering) and related equipment (e.g., subsea systems, controls, drilling riser, rig drilling equipment)
  • Exposure to digital/service analytics tools and predictive maintenance solutions
  • Leadership experience or informal team management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex engineering concepts to non-technical stakeholders and clients
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required


Preferred:

  • Proficient with the offshore drilling process (e.g., drilling engineering) and related equipment (e.g., subsea systems, controls, drilling riser, rig drilling equipment)
  • Exposure to digital/service analytics tools and predictive maintenance solutions
  • Leadership experience or informal team management


Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical field
