We are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineering Lead for a flagship airborne command and control program. You will act as the senior technical expert for all electrical and avionics systems, leading a team of electrical engineers. Your leadership will be instrumental in delivering robust, compliant, and innovative electrical solutions for aircraft modification and test, from initial concept through field deployment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of electrical engineers supporting aircraft modification, system integration, and testing.
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and approval of electrical engineering documentation (schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications).
  • Organize and drive technical reviews, design verification, and readiness assessments.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, systems, and test engineering leads to achieve seamless multidisciplinary integration.
  • Be fluent in Avionics, systems and Electrical (power generation and distribution) interface and functionality. Have the ability to identify and mitigate risks related to design, integration, and testing.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with all applicable safety, quality, and regulatory standards (FAA, DoD, RTCA, SAE, MIL-STD, etc.).
  • Support configuration management, change control, and best practice adoption for continuous improvement.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 14+ years of experience in electrical engineering or a related role.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Expert proficiency in electrical/electronic design and validation techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Thorough understanding of Computer Aided Engineering tools for Electrical Engineering applications.
  • Demonstrated experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Expert knowledge of electrical/electronic system federal rules and regulations, including Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) requirements.
  • Working understanding of electrical/electronic Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and System Safety Assessment (SSA) concepts.
  • A dynamic technical leader with extensive experience in aircraft electrical systems and avionics.
  • A decisive, forward-thinking problem solver who inspires and elevates engineering teams.
  • An outstanding communicator, comfortable engaging with technical, programmatic, and customer audiences.
  • Highly organized, detail-focused, and proactive in addressing technical and programmatic challenges.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Strong knowledge of power distribution, wiring design, EMI/EMC, and relevant aerospace standards.
  • Proficiency with ECAD tools and electrical analysis software.
  • Experience with aircraft operations and employment (Part 25 and/or Part 23)
  • Active Secret or higher U.S. Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain one.

  • Clearly convey technical information, design specifications, and project updates to team members, stakeholders, and management.
  • Ability to understand technical documents, electrical/electronic schematics, and electronic instrument measurements.
  • Ability to handle small components, tools, and equipment with precisions.
