Principal Consultant - Insurance Transformation SME

Location: Remote (US) - East Coast location preferred

Note: This position is not eligible for Immigration Sponsorship at this time.

Role Overview:

We are seeking an Insurance Transformation SME to support strategic transformation initiatives across underwriting, policy administration, claims, operations, and digital modernization programs for leading Insurance clients.

This role is ideal for an Insurance professional who combines strong business domain expertise with analytical thinking, stakeholder management, and a passion for driving business transformation. The successful candidate will work closely with client business leaders, technology teams, and transformation consultants to identify improvement opportunities, define future-state processes, and help deliver measurable business outcomes. The candidate should have good technical knowledge of the latest trends like Ontology, Semantic layer development, Gen AI/BI.

This position offers significant growth opportunities into transformation consulting, Insurance advisory, and AI-enabled business modernization leadership roles.

Responsibilities:

Insurance Business Analysis
  • Strong Insurance domain knowledge, including claims, underwriting, policy administration, or regulatory use cases.
  • Analyze Insurance business processes, workflows, and operational performance across underwriting, claims, policy administration, billing, and customer operations.
  • Gather, document, and validate business requirements from client stakeholders.
  • Perform current-state assessments and identify opportunities for operational improvement.


Digital & Business Transformation
  • Support Insurance modernization and transformation programs.
  • Participate in business process redesign, operating model assessments, and future-state solution development.
  • Assist in developing business cases, transformation roadmaps, and value-realization frameworks.


Data & Insights
  • Analyze business and operational data to identify trends, risks, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Translate data into actionable business recommendations for stakeholders and leadership teams.


Stakeholder Engagement
  • Facilitate discovery sessions, workshops, and requirements gathering meetings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business, operations, product, and technology stakeholders.
  • Prepare executive-level presentations, status updates, and solution recommendations.


Technology Enablement
  • Support implementation and optimization of Insurance technology solutions.
  • Deep expertise in ontology engineering and semantic modeling.
  • Work closely with business and technology teams to align business requirements with solution designs.
  • Contribute to AI, automation, and analytics-driven transformation initiatives.


Continuous Improvement
  • Stay current on Insurance industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies.
  • Contribute to best practices, reusable frameworks, and thought leadership initiatives.


Qualifications:

Must-Have Experience
  • 10-15 years of experience in the Insurance industry, Insurance consulting, business analysis, transformation, or operations roles.
  • Experience working on business transformation, modernization, process improvement, or strategic initiatives.


Insurance Domain Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of one or more of the following areas:
    • Underwriting
    • Claims
    • Policy Administration
    • Commercial Insurance
    • Personal Lines
    • Life & Annuities
    • Insurance Operations


Analytics & Technology
  • Strong SQL skills for data analysis and reporting.
  • Ontology and semantic layer foundation
  • Good understanding of cloud, data platforms e.g. Snowflake, Databricks
  • Understanding data models, reporting frameworks, and business intelligence concepts.


Consulting & Communication
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts to both technical and business audiences.
  • Experience facilitating stakeholder discussions and requirements workshops.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Guidewire, Duck Creek, Majesco, or similar Insurance platforms.
  • Exposure to Insurance transformation or consulting engagements preferably in big consulting
  • Knowledge of AI, automation, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • CPCU, AINS, or other Insurance industry certifications.
  • MBA or advanced degree.


Pay:

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: Up to $235,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus for the current performance period.

As a full-time employee of the company or as an hourly employee working more than 30 hours per week, you will be eligible to participate in the health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans in accordance with the plan documents, which may be amended from time to time. You will be eligible for benefits on the first day of employment with the Company. In addition, you are eligible to participate in the Company 401(k) Plan after 30 days of employment, in accordance with the applicable plan terms. The Company provides for 11 paid holidays and 12 weeks of Parental Leave. We also follow a "free time" PTO policy, allowing you the flexibility to take the time needed for either sick time or vacation.
