Position Summary: The Principal, Electric Compliance & Risk Consultant is responsible for leading and maintaining the quality assurance and compliance programs within Electric Operations and affiliated organizations that own or operate covered assets. This role ensures regulatory and internal compliance through audits, evidence management, strategic initiatives, and executive reporting. The manager also plays a key role in overseeing compliance relationships and managing data requests for transmission and substation operations.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:
  • Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area) $136,000.00
  • Mid Base Salary (Bay Area) $184,000.00
  • Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area) $232,000.00


Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Auditing:
    • Oversee ongoing audits of compliance programs across Electric Operations and related entities.
    • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies for covered assets.

Compliance Evidence Management:
    • Develop and maintain a centralized repository for compliance evidence records.
    • Supervise staff responsible for documentation and recordkeeping.

Strategic Projects & Process Improvement:
    • Lead special projects focused on benchmarking industry best practices and implementing improvements.
    • Assess potential impacts and recommend strategic responses to compliance challenges.

Executive Communication & Reporting:
    • Present programmatic updates to executives in response to risk management, regulatory inquiries, and external communications.
    • Provide clear, data-driven insights to support decision-making.

Performance Metrics & Scorecard Management:
    • Define and track department metrics aligned with annual and long-term goals.
    • Regularly present scorecards to senior leadership and adjust based on business needs.

Internal Compliance Program Oversight:
    • Ensure compliance with external regulatory requirements and internal company standards.
    • Oversee key components including risk assessments, internal controls, training, corrective actions, and audit readiness.

Transmission Operations Compliance:
    • Oversee Electric Compliance (EC) and relationship management for transmission operations.
    • Own and manage relevant data requests and cases, such as CPUC transmission data requests.

Substation Operations Compliance:
    • Oversee EC compliance and relationship management for substation operations.
    • Own and manage relevant data requests and cases, such as CPUC substation data requests.

Distribution Operations Compliance:
    • Oversee EC compliance and relationship management for substation operations.
    • Own and manage relevant data requests and cases, such as CPUC substation data requests.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 10 years of relevant experience


Desired Qualifications:
  • 6 years' experience managing compliance/risk programs or controls
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering
  • In-depth and unique compliance and/or risk expertise.
  • Expert level knowledge of assigned area of business including processes and procedures
  • Advanced knowledge of and ability to apply internal control concepts and/or risk analysis & assessment
  • Highly advanced analytical, program management, and communications skills
  • Ability to manipulate data and draw conclusions / make recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate complex data effectively to a variety of audiences including senior executives
  • Ability to influence others in order to achieve understanding, acceptance, and commitment to act
  • Highly flexible, self-directed, and able to adapt well to a rapidly changing environment
  • Advanced skills in MS Office including Excel and PowerPoint
