POSITION SUMMARY:

The Cloud Infrastructure Architect is a hands-on engineering and architecture role responsible for the day-to-day administration, optimization, monitoring, security, and evolution of Advanced Energy cloud platforms. The role maintains a primary focus on Microsoft Azure while supporting Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments. This individual will actively manage cloud infrastructure operations, provisioning, patching, automation, governance, cost optimization, and platform reliability while also contributing to cloud architecture and modernization initiatives. This role is expected to be a hands-on technical contributor responsible for the daily operation, support, optimization, security, and architecture of enterprise cloud environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cloud Engineering & Architecture (Azure & GCP)

• Define enterprise architecture standards for secure, scalable, and highly available Azure & GCP solutions.
• Lead cloud migration and modernization initiatives, including hybrid and cloud-native architectures for both hyperscalers.
• Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and establish enterprise architectural patterns and standards.
• Conduct architecture reviews and establish cloud standards and best practices.
• Establish cloud architecture governance, standards, and operating models across the organization.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and influence strategic technology investment decisions.
• Lead architecture decisions impacting multiple business functions and global operations.
• Drive enterprise-wide adoption of cloud-native platforms and modernization practices.

Cloud Operations (Azure & GCP)

• Administer and support Azure (primary) and GCP cloud environments.
• Monitor cloud health, availability, performance, and capacity.
• Manage provisioning, deprovisioning, patching, lifecycle management, and platform maintenance.
• Implement and maintain cloud networking, storage, compute, security, and identity services.
• Troubleshoot incidents and drive root-cause resolution.
• Manage Azure subscriptions, management groups, and resource organization.
• Manage cloud monitoring using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and cloud-native monitoring tools.
• Perform monthly cloud patching and vulnerability remediation activities.
• Manage backup, disaster recovery, and cloud resiliency services.
• Support incident response and production outage remediation.

Automation & Security

• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep, ARM, or similar tools.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automation initiatives.
• Implement governance, compliance, patching, vulnerability remediation, backup, and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Automate operational procedures using PowerShell, Azure CLI, Python, or similar scripting tools.
• Maintain cloud security posture and remediation activities.
• Support identity and access management through Entra ID and GCP IAM.

Optimization & Reliability

• Continuously optimize performance, availability, utilization, and cloud spend.
• Manage cost optimization initiatives across Azure and GCP environments.
• Create operational dashboards and reporting for performance, capacity, and utilization monitoring.
• Support business continuity and disaster recovery testing.
• Participate in on-call support and operational escalations as needed.

Technical Leadership & Collaboration

• Partner with executive stakeholders to align cloud investments with business strategy.
• Provide guidance on technology risk, scalability, and operational resilience.
• Influence global technology decisions to improve business performance, agility, and cost optimization.
• Influence executive leadership on cloud strategy, risk management, and technology investment priorities.
• Lead enterprise architecture reviews for business-critical initiatives.
• Act as company's senior subject matter expert and trusted advisor for cloud architecture, platform strategy, and modernization initiatives.
• Lead design reviews, technical workshops, and architecture discussions.
• Serve as a trusted advisor for Azure & GCP strategy and implementation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Deep hands-on expertise in Microsoft Azure administration, engineering, networking, storage, security, and operations.
• Hands on expertise and operational experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Strong experience managing cloud infrastructure in production environments.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, patching, provisioning, deprovisioning, and cloud operations.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD, Terraform, Bicep, ARM, and automation frameworks.
• Knowledge of Azure governance, IAM, security controls, compliance, and FinOps practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and operational support skills.

CERTIFICATIONS

• AZ-104 Azure Administrator Associate, required
• AZ-305 Azure Solutions Architect Expert, required
• Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional or Architect, required
• AZ-400 DevOps Engineer, preferred
• AZ-500 Security Engineer, preferred

EXPERIENCE:

• 12+ years of infrastructure, cloud engineering, or platform operations experience.
• Proven experience operating and maintaining cloud infrastructure at scale.
• 10+ years of hands-on Azure engineering and administration experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on GCP engineering and administration experience.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Azure Certifications (e.g., AZ-303, AZ-304, AZ-500) preferred.

COMPENSATION:

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $170,000 to $220,000 per year.
