Responsibilities

  • Own and enhance the MCP Observability and Support strategy and roadmap.
  • Establish automation patterns for managing vulnerabilities and remediation tracking.
  • Support and advise on the execution of the MCP technical roadmap.
  • Launch and manage campaigns to promote adoption of new tools and processes to drive maturity in MCP Technology systems.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by regularly updating processes and automation based on best practices.
  • Mentor and coach technical team members, enhancing their growth and systems-based thinking.
  • Define and promote standards for CI/CD, observability, infrastructure as code, and reliability engineering within the Platform Technology team and vendor partners.
  • Collaborate with developers, Product Managers, Infosec, Compliance, and stakeholders to set standards and ensure shared quality responsibility.

Job Description

Reporting to the Mayo Clinic Platform (MCP) TechOps Director of Technology, the Principal Platform Architect will be a technical leader, process and quality evangelist, and agent of change to drive operational maturity throughout the MCP systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own the MCP Observability and Support strategy and road mapping. Design, maintain, and improve the architecture used by other teams to manage their system health.
  • Establish automation patterns for vulnerability management and remediation tracking.
  • Supports and advises the execution of the MCP technical roadmap.
  • Drive maturity of MCP Technology systems by launching and managing campaigns to promote adoption of new tools, processes and standards.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by regularly reviewing and updating processes and automation according to evolving best practices.
  • Acts as a mentor and coach for other technical team members, supporting technical growth and systems-based thinking.
  • Define and champion comprehensive standards and best practices for CI/CD, observability, infrastructure as code, and reliability engineering across the Platform Technology team, as well as our vendor partners.
  • Work closely with developers, Product Managers, Infosec, Compliance and other stakeholders to set standards, identify risks, and ensure quality is a shared responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant information technology field or a minimum 10 years of direct full-stack engineering with increasing complexity or 5 years in a principal engineer capacity.
  • 3-5 years project management, system architecture, and design.
  • 3-5 years working in diverse environments utilizing Agile principles of software development.
  • Principal level experience with Hyperscale Cloud Environments and their configurations (Google preferred. AWS or Azure considered).
  • Experience with enterprise information security systems and application in a public cloud environment. Understanding of healthcare specific considerations such as HIPAA and HITRUST strongly desired.
  • Principal level experience in DevOps and CI/CD principles.
  • Experience directly delivering and supporting clinical systems.
  • Experience with cloud architecture, deployments, and management in an enterprise setting.

Additional Experience and/or Qualifications:
  • Experience with Interoperability standards such as HL7 and FHIR.
  • Experience with solutions integration/delivery in a healthcare setting.
