Principal Business Product Manager - Forecasting

The Opportunity

We are looking for a visionary, highly strategic and technical Business Product Manager (Director-level) to join our Insights & Analytics product suite within the Forecasting pillar. In this role, you will be the domain expert translating complex pharmaceutical forecasting dynamics into a scalable, modern forecasting products and platform. You will lead the evolution of our Commercial Forecasting ecosystem, moving our organization from a fragmented and semi-manual process across multiple tools, into a unified, predictive, and data-driven forecasting product/platform that enhances transparency, accuracy, and modeling agility. You will lead a cross-functional team spanning product activation, end-user champions, data science, AI/ML, and technology (RDT/IT) to bring these products to life and bridge the gap between forecasting tools, process, strategy, technology and our forecasters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy and Roadmap:

    • Partner with the Business Product Owner and/or Executive Director of Product Suite to support the definition of the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for forecasting products in your remit

    • Translate deep pharmaceutical and forecasting domain knowledge into scalable forecasting solutions that will enable strategic investment decision making at the brand and portfolio level to drive top line growth, while simultaneously reimagining our approach to forecasting transparency, accuracy, fluency, and efficiency

  • Product Development & Execution:

    • Manage advanced data and analytics products through their full lifecycle: from initial ideation and complex requirement definition to launch, scaling, and ongoing performance optimization.

    • Partner closely with Technical Product Managers, Data Leads, Data Scientists, and IT engineering to steer the development, deployment, and optimization of sophisticated analytical models, API service layers, and intuitive UI/UX capabilities.

    • In close partnership with business activation teams, oversee end-to-end business process mapping, user feedback compilation, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure high-velocity feature rollouts and immediate end-user adoption.

    • Establish robust agile operational standards, backlog management rigor, and reusable product templates to ensure seamless pull-through and efficient execution.

  • Cross-Functional Partnership:

    • Work closely with Forecasters, Finance partners,, Data Science, RDT/IT, Field Analytics, and Digital Experience teams to deliver comprehensive forecasting tools.

    • Drive cross-functional consensus and actively evangelize the product27s strategic value proposition to executive stakeholders across diverse organizational channels.

    • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, finance stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring delivery consistently aligns with user needs and organizational priorities.

    • Champion a practice-based apprenticeship model, actively coaching, mentoring, and upskilling cross functional product teams including program managers, operations managers, and peers within the broader product community.

  • Compliance:

    • Ensure strict adherence to all laws, regulations, and policies governing Genentech27s business activities.

Who You Are

  • Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

    • Education: Bachelor27s degree in Business, Technology, Data Science, or another quantitative field.

    • Experience: 8+ years of total professional experience, with at least 5 years dedicated to pharmaceutical analytics or business analytics product management across multiple therapeutic areas.

    • Product Management Expertise: Proven experience in a Product Manager or Product Owner role, successfully guiding an analytical or digital product through its full lifecycle (from ideation to launch and scaling). Ability to design scalable product solutions that address common business challenges and serve the broader organization.

    • Insights Native: Strong domain expertise in pharmaceutical revenue forecasting, with a minimum of 2 years experience building and owning revenue forecast models during core planning cycles. Deep understanding of pharma data across commercial, medical, sales, and access and how to utilize it to build a forecast.

    • Stakeholder Alignment: Demonstrated success in aligning cross-functional stakeholders, with the professional maturity to push back on requests that misalign with corporate objectives.

    • Agile Fluency: Extensive experience working in an Agile environment, managing complex product backlogs, and coordinating tightly with technical IT and Data engineering teams.

    • Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional presentation skills, with the ability to evangelize the product vision to both technical and non-technical audiences. Highly collaborative and able to influence cross functionally to develop and evolve our product roadmap(s).

  • Additional Desired Qualifications & Experience:

    • Advanced Degree: MBA, or an MS in Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related graduate-level qualification.

    • Technical Expertise: Experience working with AI (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.), proficiency with Jira, data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), product prototyping, and cloud-based data environments.

    • Regulated Industry Experience: Deep knowledge of healthcare-specific data sets and the stringent compliance and privacy frameworks surrounding them.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $161,600 - $300,000 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
